When you're getting steals in the passing lane (leaving your man open) more than getting steals off your own defensive assignment. You're gambling with house money rather than your own money when you play defense like this. You put the team defense in a bind. This is not the same as other players who straight up defend their own man consistently. This is actually how kobe played defense and Phil Jackson called him out for it. Phil Jackson even said dont be fooled by kobe defensive team selections. He got on those teams out of popularity rather than his defense. With all due respect.

Did you hear my disclaimer, I understand Kobe is known as the better defender but taking a closer look can show things that the history books missed. I say in this that Kobe is better but Wade was not a bad defender and looking at numbers tells you why
