Back in 1998, Kobe Bryant came to put on a show in his first all star game.
Through three quarters Kobe led all scorers, put up highlight dunks and went at his idol Michael Jordan every chance he got
But coach George Karl, thought 19 year old Kobe still needed to earn his stripes
So he sat Kobe the entire fourth quarter quarter, allowing MJ to surpass him scoring, secure the win, and get MVP.
Kobe seemed fine with the decision at the time but he must have taken it personally because..

Kobe wasn't more competitive then Mike by what you stated it just means he worked harder Mike worked smarter but Kobe had to work hard because he wasn't as physically gifted as MJ who was stronger faster jumped higher had bigger hands higher bball IQ who was more efficient and had a better shot selection. Mike and most 90s players didn't rely on the 3 pointer like nowadays he was a mid-range sniper but Kobe took a lot of bad shots because he'd get trapped trying to do it all forcing himself to take that shot, that wasn't a good thing that was just dumb which is the reason he has the most missed shots in nba history
