I am a huge listener of techno, but more on the soft side, 122-126 bpm. I couldn't do this type of party ever. I wonder if people that go on this type of crazy high bpm parties also enjoy the more dreamy lower bpm melodic ones? A.k.a colyn, adriatique, magdalena, marino canal etc.

I myself don't really enjoy the slower dreamy techno, I think Techno is at it's best when it is played like this. You should check out Rene Wise, fantastic Techno DJ that plays dark groovy and hypnotizing but not as high energy as this but the bpm is higher than the names you listed!

Can anyone explain how this lighting set up works? Is Strobert controlling this like on the fly? Or does it somehow link into the CDJs and react to the music?

Given the rhythm is fairly standard (4/8/16/32/64/128 bars), the software controlling the lights can fairly accurately predict what's coming up - along with a human to control things. Of course the operator must also have a good knowledge of music theory to predict lows/highs/breakdowns/etc. Around 01:04:20 the long breakdown is accompanied by a bright yellow light which stays on for a while. The strobes get more intense as the energy builds before being unleashed.
