Can I use just posterboard with 2 sides like a gloss and a dull?

I do spray paint art myself. Doesn't matter if you get posterboard that's gloss on both sides or gloss on one and dull on the other. The key is you always use/spray on the gloss size because it keeps the paint wet longer and allows you to move and slide whatever you're using for textures better. Also If you spray on the dull side will sucks up the paint like a sponge and dries it out to where you you can't do textures and patterns in it.
