I love Dragula, but I don’t know why they think that they are doing something that has never been done before. They always allude to RuPaul‘s drag race as being not as groundbreaking, but to be honest if there were no RuPaul‘s drag race then I am 100% positive that Dragula would look a lot different as far as the shows structure. It is pretty much a copy of drag race but Halloween lol no shade but it’s the truth. I wish they would stop mentioning drag race in a negative light because they are very clearly inspired by it and have yet to get to the level of perfection that drag race has already achieved. Drag race at its core is an awesome original idea and has been instrumental in showing main stream media how queer people are in real life and I think it deserves a little bit more respect than the Boulais are giving it

I think what Koco means is that this show reflects what drag in the real world looks like. Drag race only features a very small part of drag… the pretty and bubbly drag queens. There are many other sides and styles to drag that are never spoken about. Whenever a queen goes even a little outside of their tiny box, they get penalized. Like Charity Kase in UK3, or Crystal Methyd being told she needs to change her makeup on the FIRST episode of US12. Also Dragula has done a much better job at featuring a diversity of queens, like trans queen, Afab queens, straight queens etc. This reflects the real drag scene a lot better than drag race, cuz people who only get their drag knowledge from there think that every drag queen is a gay cis male

@@watermelonludmilla5555 okay while that might be true with contestants like charity, Sharron needles was definitely alternative drag and won an early season. There have been TONS of contestants on rpdr that are not bubbly. But that’s really nit picking. What I mean, is that they literally have been shitting on drag race for years. I love the boulets and have been listing to their podcast for years and only up until recent have they been reffering to DR as “that other show” or “other shows”. They used to straight up call them by name and act like drag race stole their idea which is not true lol. Drag race is not perfect but it is a network television show and it’s cut throat but it does a good job at showcasing a variety of talent. And then they say “drag is art and art is subjective, we are not here to judge your drag” and then proceed to judge their drag lmao like okay work 😂 says they. Won’t judge their drag but puts people in the bottom for wearing club kid boots 😂😂😂. I guess I’m mainly referencing their past discussions on their podcast. It bugs me that they keep praising theirselves for being somewhat above rpdr but they literally just copied and pasted. It’s weird to see the constants be allowed to even bring up drag race or ref fence drag race. If I were them, I’d try to distance myself as far away from them as possible considering they store their formula.
