Hi Rohan, The distance of Kodaikanal from Kodaikanal Road Railway Station is about 80 km. If you want to go to Kodaikanal from Kodaikanal Road Railway Station, then you have to reach Kodaikanal Railway Station, after that there is a bus station at a walking distance as soon as you get out of the station but the buses to go directly to Kodaikanal from Kodaikanal Road Railway Station are limited and less, if you get a direct bus then you can board it otherwise you have to go to Kodaikanal by a connection bus for which you have to first take a bus to Batlagundu, after that you can take a bus from Batlagundu to Kodaikanal. The traffic from Batlagundu to Kodaikanal is very well connected, you get buses every half to 1 hour. Apart from this, if you find Madurai, Dindigul in the list of railway stations, then you can also consider these stations. I know of only one bus which is run by government, from Kodaikanal directly to Rameswaram, timing is 8:30 am. For more details watch this video from 1 min 30 sec to 1 min 37 sec you will find the time table of bus stand and some phone numbers are also given, you can call them and get clear information about private buses. I did this trip between summer and monsoon. Even at that time the weather in Kodaikanal was cold due to which I was wearing a jacket. So you can guess that the weather in Kodaikanal is almost always cold and pleasant. You must keep winter clothes with you. If you want, you can buy winter clothes in Kodaikanal at cheap prices too. @@akashmanna8494 Hi Akash, almost all the tourist places in Kodaikanal close by 6:00 PM, after that you can only go for night walks in the bus stand and the market near Kodai lake. Also if you go out of the city and crowded places then you will find uneven places where you usually have to climb uphill and there is a lot of traffic at night, since it is a hilly place and has dangerous curves, night walks become a bit dangerous. I haven't heard much about any criminal activity with tourists in Kodaikanal but if you are in a couple or with kids then avoid going out at night, if possible return to your hotel before 9-10 PM. @akashmanna8494 Hi, There are two main bus stands in Madurai from where you get buses for Kodaikanal, first is Arappalayam Bus Stand and second is Madurai Central Bus Stand (Periyar Bus Station). You get buses from Madurai to Kodaikanal from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM which are available every half hour to 1 hour. The distance from Madurai to Kodaikanal is 120 to 130 km, if you want to go from Madurai to Kodaikanal by car or bike, you will have to go via Vattalgundu.
