Your videos are always fun to watch, they feel light and airy which is refreshing when compared to so many other film / photography content creators. I don't shoot "motion picture" film stock very often - and when I do I use the CineStill chemicals to develop it and have had good results. I also occasionally shoot it, usually due to the higher ISO and usually in tungsten form as if you shoot scenes with lots of soft blue/greys it gives a real "abandoned" and post-apocalypse feel to the pics. I shot several scenes in empty parking garages and under-construction buildings during the afternoon warm sun and it was an interesting effect / feel to the shots. Thanks for sharing your work!

This is your first video I’ve seen, and it’s terrific. I was surprised how cool your photos are, given it’s on tungsten balanced film. No filters used? Not disappointed at all at your 35mm pics, I thought they looked nice. Your model is gorgeous! Nice work!

You dont need a filter when scanning because you can just fix the WB with the eyedroper. I wonder why this is such a foreign concept for film photographers. For printing in a darkroom it would be advisable to use the filter while shooting.
@35matinee
@35matinee Ай бұрын
Uh, the reason it looks cool is that daylight is at least 5000K, that's why the iconic 85B filter was invented. Cinematographers use the 85B OUTDOORS, always.

You have no idea how much I appreciate these videos as a fellow film shooter! I know it takes a lot of time and effort to shoot these videos and edit them while shooting film which by itself takes a lot of effort. Big appreciation and love from Korea!! ps. that horrifying feeling when you can advance the film after 38+ shots... it goes from "lesgooo I can take a few more shots" to "holy shit did I not load the film properly and shot all my pics in vain" really quick

Really nice video, excellent photos and gorgeous model! Now I’m inspired to try it myself. I’m not a fan of halation, so I haven’t used any of the films with the protective layer removed. I really like the natural and muted colours this film gives. Looking forward to your next video 😊
@itscapturedbysam
@itscapturedbysam 2 ай бұрын
I like the halation when shooting VERY specific vibe 😂, the motion picture film is definitely more universally good for everything, and it’s meant to be heavily color edited in post, so it’s more muted.. from my understanding… definitely worth trying, just a bit more expensive processing ECN2 😂
@mmatiasautio

Sam, one major difference between 65/70mm "motion picture" stock is that this is unusual, like LF sheets they have an anti-halation layer, and is a special stock, NOT for projection!, but filming, a weaker base to allow breakage of the FILM, NOT the camera if something goes wrong (as in movie cameras they are $$$$$$ esp. if you talk ARRI, Panavision, etc.); these types of camera are what the stock is designed for; and as such needs it's own process in the darkroom (C-41\E-6 can't deal with this stock); you deal with it by rem-jet washing to remove the halation layer, then focus on different colours, one metal ion at a time, like staining a slide in biology, or LF B&W sepia/platinum prints each chemical needs its own process exchanging silver iodide, for the others in turn.

I am not sure about cheaper. Most labs will not develop film with remjet so I would not be getting these films for that reason alone. Seattle film works is remjet film and the reason you had to send it back to them for developing. It gunked up c41 machines and ruined some.
@itscapturedbysam

I've heart the same story, people who dose not know the difference sent these type of film for regular c41 process and ruined the lab's processor... and what I've talked about in the end, developing ECN-2 is definitely more expensive here in the US, that's why I waited this long to try this..

I really don't like click-bait titles. 500T does not remotely look like Portra. Maybe your film scanner's algorithm could do its best to make the colors look similar by digital manipulation, but if you use DSLR scanning, you will know they can't be less different.

My notes on why all films look incredible before digital cameras were introduced and made them all look clinical and boring. The quick evolution of Kodak motion picture film and movies which were shot on them: Eastmancolor Negative ECN 1982-1986 Back to the future E.T Edward scissorhands Ghostbusters Raiders of the lost ark Taxi EXR 1989-1996 A league of their own Blow Casino Fight Club Kill Bill 1-3 Kodak Vision 1996-2002 Alice in wonderland Brother where art thou Catch me if you can Gangs of New York Kodak Vision2 2002-2007 Inglorious Basterds The Dark Knight The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou There will be blood True Grit Kodak Vision3 2007- present Dark knight rises Django Unchained 5213/5219 200T/500T Grand Budapest Hotel 5213 200T Moonrise Kingdom Once upon a time in Hollywood 5213/5219 200T/500T The Hateful Eight 5203/5213/5207/5219 which are all basically 50D or 250D 100T / 200T/ 500T check out midwest film CO. which uses a motion picture scanner and gives you back your images completely flat for you to color grade. around $20 per roll to develop + scans
