anyone find it weird that the Maka and Soul's first fight in the anime was by far the most impressive to watch? i wish they had done more like it, but no luck :(

This whole anime series seems like some sort of twisted creation from the minds of Tim Burton and Dr Seuss. The character design reminds me of Dr Seuss, especially Crona, and the tone and setting are like Nightmare Before Christmas. Anyway, awesome vid. Nice music, definitely goes with the anime. 5/5

As much as I liked Soul Eater, I feel the show really suffered for its tone, (which is really a direct result of it being a shonen, but whatever). The show has the style, art, animation, and ideas to be a really tight horror/psychological thriller anime, but it never really gets past being an interesting take on high school magic fight club.

@cletusrayandzekiel It matches the manga pretty much exactly until Buttataki Joe shows up. BJ is actually the Internal Affairs officer. He's trying to find the mole. BJ is able to sense through a witch's soul protect, and finds seven. He also finds what's wrong with Marie, and Chrona successfully flees, and the terms of Medusa's deal are different, and everything at Baba Yaga's castle is different except that Black Star and Mifune fight. It's because they had to wrap up the anime quickly.

The most awesome episode is the first one, Maka and Soul have a BA fight with Jack the Ripper and it has the most "normal" and epic scythe work.
