Koehring Cutter Forwarder Harvester - Great Northern Paper Woodlands Division

In the early 90s Great Northern Paper sold to Georgia Pacific. GP made the decision to outsource the logging division to owner operators. This video is a portion of a 90 minute home movie documenting the final days Great Northern's commercial logging operation.
My father ran a Koehring Cutter/Forwarder for GNP for 16 years. He can be seen in this video bringing a load of softwood to the yard. The crew was working in St. John Maine at the time.

I wonder which GNP camp that was filmed at. Loaded and trucked wood at GNP camps at Rocky Brk and Moosleuk (Pinkham's old camp), where the K 2's worked different years. Knew a lot of the operators, mechanics and foreman quite an experience working with the crew the GNP had.

It was the St. John's camp. The full video shows the camp, shop, etc. Over his 16 yrs I know my dad worked at multiple camps (probably all of them).

​@@cwg2325I am very familiar with 5th St. John camp also , I worked there for Gerald Pelletier after the company closed all of these camps and some of the contractors took them over. Going to re-watch the vide to the end.

Wow what a hog of a machine. Slow as ole hell and clunky as heck. Logging sure has come a long ways. Only 6 cord on that? Looked like a little more but looks can be deceiving
