Es dificil comprender cual es el canon. Aunque en KoF 99 dicen que NESTS capturo a Kyo despues de la batalla con Orochi, cualquiera de los 2 finales puede ser el canon. Este, donde quiza Iori derroto a Kyo y NESTS lo capturo o el de los tesoros despues de ejecutar a Orochi, aunque es un tanto incomprensible, ya que Kagura o Iori pudieran haber detenido a NESTS de secuestrarlo.

​@@G3h0v4nyThe canon endings of KOF 96 and KOF 97, are a mix of Team Japan (Kyo, Benimaru & Daimon) and Team Sacred Treasures (Kyo, Iori & Chizuru). Team Yagami's (Iori, Mature & Vice) ending at the end of KOF 96 where Iori kills Mature and Vice is also canon, but happens after Kyo, Iori and Chizuru split up, so does Team Japan's ending. So the canon endings order would be Team Japan (tournament winners) > Team Sacred Treasures (defeated Goenitz) > Team Yagami (Iori kills Mature and Vice) > Team Japan (Kyo reminisces about the games' events). The King of Fighters 96: Team Japan (Kyo, Benimaru & Daimon) *possibly* defeats Team Yagami (Iori, Mature & Vice) in the semi-finals, and then defeats Chizuru in the finals, winning the tournament. Then, Chizuru tells Kyo the true reason she organized the tournament, and Goenitz appears. Team Sacred Treasures (Kyo, Iori & Chizuru) defeats Goenitz, and splits up. Iori turns to Orochi Iori, and kills Mature and Vice, while Kyo reminisces about the events from KOF 96 and the two previous games. The King of Fighters 97: Team Japan (Kyo, Benimaru & Daimon) *possibly* defeats Team New Faces (Yashiro, Shermie & Chris) in the finals, winning the tournament. Team Japan (Kyo, Benimaru & Daimon) is then attacked by Orochi Iori and Orochi Leona, and Ralf and Clark *possibly* helped the three fight the other two. After Orochi Iori and Orochi Leona are defeated, Team New Faces (Yashiro, Shermie & Chris) becomes Team Orochi (Orochi Yashiro, Orochi Shermie & Orochi Chris). Team Sacred Treasures (Kyo, Iori & Chizuru) fights Team Orochi (Orochi Yashiro, Orochi Shermie & Orochi Chris) and defeats them. After that, the three followers decided to resurrect Orochi into Chris, because of the other three stopping their plan of sacrificing Yuki, the last Kushinada, to fully revive Orochi. Team Sacred Treasures (Kyo, Iori & Chizuru) defeats Orochi, with Kyo dealing the final blow, leaving him unconscious, and it's at that moment that he was taken by NESTS. Hopefully it's clear now. 👍
