Kumasi is the capital of the Ashanti Kingdom of Ghana 🇬🇭 It’s big and has a lot of history behind it and it also has a lot of parts like how the US does. The porcupine you saw, has been their symbol for several hundred years. So from nowhere these guys start making drill music, which of course is not from Ghana. Then the locals started joking about the people being “Kumericans” relating them to the Americans because their music sounded like that but had local dialect lyrics. It went viral and people started sharing the names of the states in the US upon the various towns and now it has become kind of their thing. They are not from America but they love a few things from there and they are not letting go of their Ghanaian culture. PEACE from this side🙇🏻♂️ Checkout Yaw tog remix with Stormzy

The animal in the flag is a porcupine. It signifies a saying among the people of Kumasi "wo ku apem a apem b3ba" meaning "if you kill a thousand, a thousand will come" because the porcupine shoots a thousand spikes and they are almost immediately replaced
