I appreciate that you’re documenting the discomfort you’re feeling. I’m training for my first half marathon, and I ran in an older pair of ultraboosts and the Nike invincible just fine. But, when I got the Peg 38, after a mile or so my ankles and achilles started to really hurt. So I may have to return the Pegs, which is unfortunate because it’s such a nice looking and affordable shoe.

A comparison between your pair and a regular version sounds like an interesting test! It's always intriguing to hear these details about the underfoot sensation, the considerations you're having while running, and what that means for your feelings about the shoe Ko. Thanks for your work.

I agree with you that the Peg 37 and 38 create pressure points on the run with those air pods. It doesn't happen to me with any other shoe and it happens rapidly. It's not surprising for my foot considering my mostly flat feet but I don't think it's your feet, as much as the impact on your foot because of the shoe.

Been watching all your latest videos as my OG Infinity Flyknits are beat and needed an upgrade, I almost went with the Vomero 16 but due to price and fitment (mainly the lacing area) I went with the Peg 38. My last pair was the 31 and I loved those, hoping to enjoy getting back on the Pegasus chariot 😄 you’re videos are great! Hah! This video is exactly like my train of thoughts when I'm running and feeling 'something': is it the drop? Is it too soft? So I need to change my gait? Are the shoes worn out? Do I need to change my laces etc etc etc.

I 100 percent agree I got a peg 38 and I slightly pronate with lower arch’s. I’ve been doing Natural shoe pretty much all my life. I just went on a first run today with the peg 38 and had the exact same experiences I just think it’s to tight and doesn’t let me foot flex naturally. When I took my runners lace off & loosed the laces a bit it helps a lot. But yeah sometimes it felt great and sometimes I was feeling stiffness though the foot strike.

Hey! thank you for sharing your experience - super unfortunate you've been feeling all this. I'm a physical therapist and running shoe nerd, and I suspect that the zoom air bag react foam combo may be to blame for where you're feeling the discomfort, specifically where the MTP joints are oriented inside the shoe. It's quite possible that maybe the zoom bag have bursted, now you're having a shearing effect as your roll through your midfoot to MTP joints. essentially a repetitive slide in what ever the direction the zoom bag wants to go. I know this video is relatively old in KZbin standards, but I hope you're foot is feeling better!

I picked up a pair of the peg 38’s about a week ago and the first two runs in them weren’t great at all. Hot spots and other minor pains but by the third run (10+ miles on the shoe) they felt a lot more broken in but I’m still having some minor issues with them. I’ve read from multiple people that they start to feel like great shoes around the 50-100 mile mark. I really want to love the shoe since it’s my first pair of Pegs ever so I’m going to keep using them til that 50 or so mileage. Have you heard anything similar? I heard the same about the peg 37s too but who knows. I did notice when I picked up the pace a bit more those minor issues went away in the shoe. Hoping 50 miles something changes and they become the best thing ever so we’ll see
@scheddar27333 жыл бұрын
I''ve had the same experience with the 37s, took about 30-40 miles and then all of a sudden they felt great. Now though, about 200 miles in I'm starting to feel heel issues, like it feels bruised, not sure what that's about but I have a newer pair of 37s and the heel issue persists, but I don't have the issue running in Cliftons or Altras, so something to watch out for.

Thank you SO much for this review. I wore two pairs of the 37's and loved them. I recently switched to the 38's and began to experience some right foot pain. I also picked up some pegasus trail shoes around the same time so I thought it was those. Because why would it be the 38's when Nike said they didn't change anything underfoot? Long story short I switched in and out of a couple of shoes and pinpointed the problem to the 38's. What the heck?? I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't see this and would have thought I was just getting a foot injury!

You are a committed Shoetuber to go out and buy a second pair of shoes that may have the same effect! I commend you! I’m wondering if it’s a combo of all the miles you’ve been putting in with much softer midsole options making the Pegs feel too firm relative to the others. Good luck and can’t wait to hear if it’s just a flukey customized pair.

Sounds stupid perhaps, but do you think that after using more expensive/plush shoes, over time, your gait changes and you get used to different shoes? The Pegasus is quite old school now v say Invincible and Infinity's, Hokas, New Balance etc etc etc.
@fauxtek3 жыл бұрын
Perhaps it's a manufacturing variation in the placement of the Zoom bag in the right shoe? In my 37s, the presence of the Zoom bag is more prevalent in my left shoe, even at step in, and it bugged me enough that I gave up on them for running.

It seems to me that you are over thinking what you are feeling with these shoes. You can trust your senses and your experience. I think most people would chalk the shoe and never buy another pair of Nikes again if they had this experience but I guess in your position it will be interesting to see if the regular version of the shoe is any better with a direct comparison.

hmmm, If this didnt have a big swoosh on the side, would you work so hard to try and get it to work? and even buying a second pair?
@kofuzi3 жыл бұрын
I think it’s less about the swoosh and more about the fact that I’ve run in this shoe for the last six years. In 2017, I think it’s the only shoe I ran in. I bought like three or four pairs of the regular and one pair of the shield. There’s history. The Altra torin 4.5 Plush and the shoe I tried from Enda did not get similar benefits of the doubt, but I do think I put about 40 or 50 miles in that Altra before I gave up. I suppose the question that I could turn back to you is, Was your comment actually a question? Or was it a veiled swipe at me?
@kevinscott49383 жыл бұрын
@@kofuzi No, not a swipe at all, apologies if it came across as that. Its probably just a general thing I see with Nike quite abit, that they can release shoes that abit "meh", but people still buy them regardless. I absolutely can not deny that Nike's "super shoes" have reined supreme for several years now and competitors are still trying to catch up. Suppose my thing is with Nike, as it "feels" like they are just not putting effort into making really good shoes(outside of super shoes) and being complacent because people will just buy them regardless.......hope that makes some sense....
