I love these race reports... those of us who have been doing this for years, or decades, at Grandma's and everywhere else, find so many relatable moments in your video, making us smile, tear up, laugh, and feel all of richness and gifts of living that marathoning brings to us... Thank you

It’s amazing to hear how you overcame those early discomforts and doubts. It’s so very true (based on my 3 to date) that all marathons hurt in the end. I hope you eventually get Dean Karnazes’ book “Road to Sparta” to at least read the final chapter in which he speaks as eloquently about the marathon as anyone possible could. I wish I could quote it all here but it’s a chapter, not a paragraph or even a single page. I can’t recommend it enough, and it played a role in inspiring me to attempt my first marathon. Martha

As a runner of indifferent talent who is also chasing that elusive first sub-3, I am symultaneously absolutely delighted for you and incredibly jealous of your success. I got so close with my last race, finishing in 3:01:02 on a hot day. Worse, I've just had COVID and my next race in 7 weeks is probably not going to be a realistic opportunity, so I won't get another decent chance for another 12 months given my race schedule. All this said, your vid shows it IS possible and I am foaming at the mouth to get out there, get running and have another crack at it.

I was curious to watch some race reports from this past weekend and was surprised to see myself in a video! I remember coming up behind you around the 10K while you were recording and thinking "Huh. I might be in that guy's video. That's gotta be difficult to carry a GoPro for a marathon." Congrats on the achievement! I just found out about you, but it seems like you're a great liaison for the running community.

Thanks, Ko, for this. Ran my first half few months back and regretted not getting the time I trained and was ready for because of the same feelings you describe at 9:53 to 9:58. The mile markers weren't frequent in that race. Finished and was not even tired, felt like a long run so I definitely let myself be held back by negative thoughts. 10:24 on is extremely inspiring and teaching for me. Congratulations on Sub 3!
