Koh Lanta, Thailand. Best Beaches, Best Food, & Best Sight Seeing. We are in Koh Lanta, Thailand and we're going to show you the best that the island has to offer. This is the first part in a Koh Lanta series. In this video we will tour our hotel, tell you how to get around the island (how to get a tuktuk or how to rent a motorcycle or scooter), what to see in Old Town Lanta, and where to eat for the best trip.
Koh Lanta Old Town, located on Koh Lanta’s East coast, was once the island’s main port for trade.
Koh Lanta played a major role as a safe-haven port for traders from Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia.
Originally, Sri Raya (Lanta Old Town) acted as the port and commercial centre for the island and provided safe harbour for Arabic and Chinese trading vessels sailing between the larger ports of Phuket, Penang and Singapore. Goods traded included tin, charcoal and dried fish.
