I played this, such as I was able, for the Wis. State Solo and Ensemble when I was a senior in high-school (memory required to be eligible for state level consideration). Later on as featured soloist in a local adult community band concert. My son performed it for the high-school State Solo and Ensemble and a college undergrad recital. In one week he presents his senior jury recital including this and other works.

Huh. It LOOKS like he's actually playing the Eb B C all in a row on the left. Is that right? Crazy. I'll have to try that on my bass clarinet since it's the only horn I own that has that key.

So refined and playful when demanded. Wonderful tone from both and great understanding of the work. I imagine this is one of those "prove I can do it" works but this kind of talent should be used on better music. Keep looking forward and stay together on future projects if you can. Love ya!!!

I was already surprised that you had such a relaxed embouchure. It was perfect, but of course, being a playback, it doesn't surprise me that your mouth looks so little tense. In any case, it sounds great. :)

Exquisitely performed. Wonderful control of clarinet tone and dynamics as well as smooth/fluid technique. It is a shame that the piano always seems second class to its partner soloist. This is because of its poor tuning approach. When it is tune without temperament it fits with the solo instrumentalist just remarkably well and actually becomes enjoyable: It has more expression and much less of a tight/harsh tone. Artists, as these two are, should look into Renold and ProArte genuine tuning. These two systems tune the way the soloist hears. There are good samples on KZbin. Like Dougherty's "Danzi Clarinet Sonata" or Antonov's "Dreams Before You Awake" by Vollinger. The Skolnik "Five Short Pieces" is another great example of better piano sound and tuning.

Sounds great, but you should work on making your pinkies curved on trills, instead of completely straight, might make it easier to trill
@whoitisnot7 жыл бұрын
Seriously, dude?? You hear something world class like this and you think nitpicking is an appropriate response? LISTEN to his trills. Is there a problem? No. Sit down and listen until you learn how to hear.
@abbitelford68146 жыл бұрын
I don't think the person meant any harm, he just meant it would be easier on his fingers as having them straight can hurt after so much playing so making it curved would be easier for him to get his trills and keep his fingers in good shape. I think he was just offering some friendly advice towards the clarinet player. He is amazing, his tone and control are done so well, I so enjoy listening to him. :)
