I’m experiencing the same start up problems where it runs rough (I was thinking a bad plug), smokes and sputters but in 10 - 30 seconds runs fine. Lately it’s been doing the same every few minutes for about 10 seconds, then returning to normal. At 3:50 on the video you speak about disassembling the electric choke and adding a capful of oil in an access hole and working the assembly to get rid of the “crunchiness” - my question is the location of the access hole - is it on top of the black cap or do you have to disassemble the electric choke to find the hole.

Have a 5ECD low emission gen. 2009 Rinker. Need to pull the low P. fuel pump. Have you pulled it yet?

My flywheel is locked up... it's sat for a few years. How do I unlock it

Man, that hatch lift ram could not be in a worse location to service the generator

Check oil and coolant. If either are slightly low, it either won't start, or only run for a few min before shutting off

Hi Fitz, do you have instruction on how to replace low pressure fuel pump on 5ecd Kohler generator? I was told by the mechanic. I could not find part or video online? thanks

I believe I have a air lock. Runs until it gets hot and shuts down. I don't see a vent screw on yours opposite of the coolant cap.

Bill Flying no, I don't think there is one. I'll have to check. Is your thermostat opening? All the way? Is your heat exchanger plugged with rubber from an old impeller?

I’m having issues with my 5ECD. It’s giving fault code HE. I already changed impeller, added antifreeze, removed thermostat...

My generator runs only when I hold the start button from control board. Any way to diag this problem?

Same with my 5E! It will start and run as long as I hold down either start button and dies as soon as I let go of the button. I'm going to check for low oil and fuses. Hoping that it's not a voltage regulator, but that's what the internet is telling me.

Question mine starts then stalls cant seem to keep running. any ideas?

Check oil level, and antifreeze level. If they're not perfect, the generator will only run for 5min then stop
