So FUN FACT. I have this sink and over the last 2-3 years the water pressure has steadily declined, despite not having problems elsewhere in the house. Turns out that white connector (part 1222873) is known for causing this and the only solution I can find online is to buy a new replacement every few years or so. In case anyone else came to this video looking for low pressure that's not related to the aerator or mixing cartridge.
@paulmckenna52242 жыл бұрын
Interesting. My faucet (the same one in the video) lost pressure after just ONE WEEK! Kohler is sending a new cartridge (let's see if that helps). If not, I'll ask about that white connector....looks like it's more than just a connector, but also some type of in-line filter.

There is a small screen filter in the large end. Unscrew the end and clean the screen.

My faucet had a "lifetime garuantee". Can't you just call Kohler and request a new one for free? I have gotten parts for free, and never bought any for the Malleco (which I bought at Costco).

Good video, but "Stanard Plumber's Wrench" (timestamp: 1:06) is VERY unspecific. To be specific, you need a 0.875" (or 7/8-ths inch) wrench (or long socket, 6-point, 7/8-ths inch) to unscrew the locking nut that holds the valve in the facuet body. The T10 Torx bit was VERY helpful to note :)

Thank you for this extremely helpful video. I can be handy when I want to be, but generally feel intimidated by these types of projects, since these things don't seem intuitive to me. But, videos like this help give me the confidence I need to give it a try . . . and save a lot of money in the process. Thanks again!

Great to have this video thank you. Just two things that made my installation easier. I unclipped the hose from the connector underneath the sink instead of trying to unscrew fist and in that way you can unscrew the white plastic part much easier. I also didn't have to uninstall the faucet neck, I just wiggled the new hose in and it went through after a few gentle pushes and turns. It took me 10 minutes to change the new hose.

Thank you so much! I have a Kohler Cardale faucet and used your video to replace the cartridge and hose. No more leaks!!! The handle and weight were different but the rest of the process was pretty much the same. There was a small packet that came with the parts containing 2 small black rings, but the hose already had some, so I’m guessing they are spares.

How do you have such great water pressure??? Ours is brand new - less than a month- and there’s barely any pressure.
@whistlenorvell51972 жыл бұрын
Do you have good pressure at other faucets in your house? It’s possible that if your municipal water supply has debris in the water mains that it would eventually clog up the mini screens included in the faucet. You could try disassembling and cleaning those screens to see if that helps. I also had purchased a water pressure meter that screws on to a garden hose spigot and measured our water pressure for the whole house: 100 psi, which any plumber would tell you is dangerously high in that it will cause faucets and valves to wear out more quickly. If your sink faucet is the only one that is slow, your overall water pressure is probably not the issue.
@whistlenorvell51972 жыл бұрын
Also check the water shut off valves for the faucet supply lines to be sure they are fully open and not clogged themselves.

I replaced my valve on my touchless Kohler kitchen faucet, but it still has a slow drip (when turned off) coming from the sprayer. When water is turned on, it drips a lot from the regular flow on the faucet. How do I clean out (or replace) the aerator? Thanks!
@whistlenorvell51974 жыл бұрын
Are you sure that the valve is perfectly seated in it's slots? Also be sure that the silicone gasket is not damaged like mine was. I'm not sure if the aerator is user serviceable. You might call them. They might just send you a new spray head.

Hi I just found your video. I had great water pressure up to 3 days ago now I'm had a dribble. Any thoughts on that could be? I've only had the faucet 1 year. I soaked the sprayer in vinegar and water over night but no change. What do you recommend would be the next step? Thank you.
@whistlenorvell51974 жыл бұрын
Sounds most likely as a blockage in the water supply line. Sometimes it can be sediment, or pieces of bushings or washers that have disintegrated due to chlorine it chloromines. My suggestion would be to turnoff the water supply, and start tracing one part at a time starting with the shutoff valve, looking for debris in the line. Again assuming that water pressure is still good at all of your other faucets
@jf03144 жыл бұрын
I'm sure you've already fixed it, but I saw a great video where he took the plastic part that connects to the hose off and the backflow valve needed cleaning.

@whistlenorvell5197 That is precisely what happened to my faucet. Good pressure on cold but not on hot. Other hot water faucets in house had good pressure. Turned off under sink water supply valves but hot water still dribbling out of open faucet, evidently, under sink valve not fully stopping flow. Figured the washer in the supply valve had disintegrated so I removed the valve, indeed washer was shot, replaced with new and reinstalled valve. Faucet hot water still at low pressure so assumed bits of rubber washer had made their way up into the faucet. I did not know how to pull the faucet mixing valve apart, that's where this video helped. i.e. #10 Torx, Flathead screwdriver to remove decorative flange ( @RobPento also helped by clarifying what dimension a friggin plumbers wrench was). Sure enough, there was a piece of rubber washer stuck in one of the holes in the mixing unit. Hope this story helps others as this video helped me! Thanks to all.

I appreciate the video. I guess if you don't know the exact faucet model you have finding the right hose as a crapshoot. The hose I need looks exactly like yours under the sink, but the one I bought online has it looks like a 1-inch long brass quick-connect fittings of some sort for under the sink. I assume one of the numbers that start with a k you put in your description is the new replacement hose. At least the old hoes Snap Back Together pretty quick till I could find the right one. It would be nice if they made them so you could actually replace the little swivel washer at the head instead of the entire hose. I have a feeling this is going to be a frequent thing to replace as mines maybe two years old.
