As always, there seem to be a lot of people saying a lot more than just you. You should realise that your KOI world is way behind the rest of the world in terms of building body shape through feeding techniques.

Thank you for your comment very much appreciated. I agree with you in the west we are years behind the East in terms of feeding techniques. Perhaps you could share some of your techniques with us. I am always amazed at some of the tiny ponds with large koi in Japan, How do you keep the water good for the Koi do you change a lot of water daily? Many Thanks

@@koibreeding Anyway, the Japanese KOI of recent years cannot grow properly unless the water temperature is kept above 25°C for a period of time. Overfeeding at water temperatures below 25 degrees Celsius will not produce the body shape we want. Finally, your business practices and events ignore the most important feeding period. There is also an emphasis on water quality testing and microscopy to the detriment of observing the KOI themselves, to name but a few. Until each and every one of these issues is addressed, it will be impossible to find common values with us, the Japanese hobbyists.

@@atsuminaoki9910 Many thanks for the in depth reply very helpful. How long a period above 25C ? How much food? What type of food? While I agree with business practices and events and water testing and microscopy. I disagree strongly with the last statement common values, I am sure you love you're koi just as we love our koi! Surely that is the common ground to start with? I started the channel to share what little knowledge I have and would welcome any advice you would like to share as a Japanese Hobbyist and what you do differently and why? If we share what we know we can all gain from the exchange. To me Koi and koi keeping is a journey we all travel on we all learn as we go along, We all want to get the best out of our koi, But we all travel different paths to get there! Thanks again.

@@koibreeding And to begin with, to make a long story short, people who cannot establish their own methods are not suited to KOI keeping. There are no KOI teachers in Japan, much less dealers who could fill that role. This is because everyone has established their own way of doing things, whether they are making it big with small ponds or achieving outrageous densities. No one will copy their methods, no one will ask them how they do it, no one will interfere. Everything is based on a thorough observation of the KOI itself, which is reflected in the fine-tuning. The most basic of basics, KOI husbandry is completely different from the aquarium world.

@@atsuminaoki9910 So how does anyone start koi keeping in Japan if nobody is prepared to help and share their knowledge with them? We all have to start somewhere? You can only establish your own way of doing things once you have acquired some knowledge of koi. Otherwise how can you base your observation of the koi if you do not know what you are looking for or what you are seeing? How can you interpret what you are seeing without some knowledge and understanding? I am happy to learn or try new things but I reserve the right to decide if they meet my needs or not. Personally I am a UK koi Hobbyist and you are a Japanese Koi Hobbyist I celebrate those differences! I do not see it as one is right so the other must be wrong! I see it as two hobbyists looking at a koi each see a different koi but we can each appreciate the beauty of the koi in our own way. Many Thanks
