The way you've set your filtration up is completely on point. Mechanical then biological in order (you would have chemical last if using it). I've lost count of the amount of fish keepers I've seen that don't do this. A really great example and it's no wonder your fish are so healthy.

WHOA MEL. I am absolutely in love with that gold butterfly koi. He just shines when the sun is reflecting off of him. Oh and his flowing white fins. Ah, they're gorgeous!!!!! When did you slip him in? I thought i had seen every koi you had put in the pond? I know that you like to trick us every so often and tease us. Did you get him and just "forget" to tell us? Hmmm? Did you??? Hmmm? I'm going to pester you until you tell me. And you know me. I'll do it to.

There needs to be a finer filter foam added before the water gets to the lotus root bacteria houses. They should be that color but not that dirty. That just says there needs to be a fiber foam between the green pads and the blocks. Would probably be a good idea to add a sand filter. Side note : the fish are beautiful. 👍🏽
