@ I’m going to study more of your videos. Is your heater on 24hrs and just your r.o. running at night? I have economy 7 and a 12kw heater but it runs constantly. I have struggled with ro 40 filters but not pumped it. They only last possibly a week.
@DavesKoiPond29 күн бұрын
@@stevesowerby522 The thermotec ASHP only runs for a few hours each day, I think this months cost is about £ 7.20 averages about 60 kWh per month at £0.12p per kWh on my economy tariff. The recycle R.O. runs 3 x per day for 1 hr, 7 hours between each run. at 2.8litres back to the pond and 0.7 litres to waste.

Thanks, I'm just getting to the point i can enjoy it now, still a few odd jobs to do... I would have gone a lot more traditional japanese in the colour scheme, dark browns and off whites. but the missus wanted contemporary so the compromise was anthracite grey.

Looks awesome 👏🏼. Does the expansion and contraction of the wood affect any of the water proofing or create any or issues?
@DavesKoiPond2 жыл бұрын
Thanks, 👍 I've not really noticed any expansion and contraction of the wood. But it's well waterproofed with the sadolin superdec, and internally it was sealed with an acrylic primer, also it's not inground contact and has a damp-proof course so stays pretty dry. Plus the 50mm celotex insulation inside also forms an effective moisture barrier to the EPDM pond liner.😀

Thanks, 😃 Yes mate, every brick and stick... And I have the osteoarthritis in my back and fingers to prove it lol! 🤣 The patio, cabin and garden I built and made 5 years ago, the japanese bridge I made 2 years ago, and the Pergola I made just last year. Then the new pond this year.

Very nice ,similar to my own build , how did you stick the coping stones to the top of the sleepers.
@DavesKoiPond3 жыл бұрын
Thanks, the coping stones are stuck to the sleepers with idealseal automarine sealant. www.idealsealants.com/idealseal-auto-marine-polyurethane-sealant-adhesive-c24/idealseal-auto-marine-polyurethane-sealant-adhesive-300ml-p141 And where the liner sits on the sleepers, I screwed rows of 36mm stainless steel insualtion washers through the liner into the sleepers, then put the sealant on the washers to fix the stones down. www.amazon.co.uk/Stainless-Washer-Backer-Boards-Thermopanel/dp/B00PRYN9M0 i.postimg.cc/k560bCGT/20210906-121640.jpg

what a great pond can i just ask did you just lay your liner on the compacted bottom of the pond or did you use some sort of underlay thanks
@DavesKoiPond3 жыл бұрын
Thanks, 😃 the pond has 50mm thick celotex on the walls, and a 50mm layer of compacted sharp sand on the bottom as the ground is quite stoney. then multiple overlapping layers of hdpe proplex protection boards. that were also scored and bent up the walls 150mm. www.wickes.co.uk/Proplex-Black-Surface-Protection-Sheet-2400-x-1200-x-2mm/p/118670 then two layers of 500 gsm underlay. unfortunately I forgot to take any pictures as I was rushing to get the liner in before some bad weather arrived.

Hi great vid, I see the pump had 80db on it that is very loud. How do u limit noise from annoying neighbours?
@DavesKoiPond Жыл бұрын
Thanks, 🙂 The pump with 80db label on it, is the pressure cleaning pump for the drum, so yes it is fairly noisey. But only runs for about 10 seconds every hour or so, and it is inside the closed filter room so the noise isn't audible from the house.
