The very toughest pond is built like this, with liner in it too-double time it by then encapsulating the liner with mortar as well. They extend the life of each other that way. No cracked concrete repair, no punctured liner-the best of both!!!

All I can say is OMG 😱. What a tremendous project to take on. You must install swim pools for a living to have all that knowledge.

That's a LOT of work...looks great. I bet you only wish you made it bigger. That's what every pond builder feels.

Good job, Just wondering what's the depth of concrete block's footing? It looks 200mm without start bar, correct?

You won me over with, "Directed by-- enter your name here". Right at the very moment I was getting incredulous, it appeared & I remembered how it is with my pond obsession. You made me do the laugh. :-)

Did you actually bury a sand filter? That’s a horrible idea. From an actual pool guy. Best part was the credits half way through lol 😂 Why did you not slope the bottom to a main drain? This would have provided so much automatic cleaning. The brickwork was actually fantastic. I’m actually pretty proud of your plumbing job as well. Great job there. Again, pool guy. 😂

Thanks! No bottom drain, had an inground spa once with major underground pipe problems so.... I vacuum every 6 months with some occaisonal hand skimming. I use a Savio skimmer with a 3000 gph pump, estimated pond volume about 3500 gallons Aqua Ultima II filter plus UV filter I love this pond!

what did you apply to the cinder block wall to keep from leaching lime and making water tight?

Very nice but way too much work for me!😆 I used liner but mines only 1500 gallons.

Its not THAT large a pond. A pool net for the big stuff and like he said..a pump for any water changes.

I was going to ask about tree roots being a problem. But I see it's a palm tree. So I guess the roots aren't long? I have a acorn tree I want to put one under. Am worried about the roots. Thanks!

why a footing why not just lay solid concrete?
@justwired8 жыл бұрын
why did you guys put forms when pouring the footing for the block just pour up to the dirt and all ur block ends should be mortared I also would have added horizontal rebar in the block below grade and slurried in behind the block for back fill

At the very beginning you did it wrong. before poring the cement you should of layed a rebar screen barrier, one bar is not enough, this stops the wall from sinking and cracking over time. And I only see one wall with the correct rebar wall support posts, why wasn't that done all the way around for full wall reinforcement, a cracked wall sucks. The base rebar looks good.
