Hiya jiffster baby I see where you are coming from buddy 💯 My growing on tank in the filter house is pump fed put my pump is dry mounted as I have a tank connecter in the wall that then hits a valve which is then connected to the pump which then pumps to the filter which then gravity returns I will show you in my next video bruva 👍👍👍

Good idea mate! The retros are very good must admit. Your ponds lovely anyway, you seem to have a healthy set up which is paramount. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it 🙂 Might move to wales if it’s 22 degrees 😆 Stay safe 👍🏼

Hi Alex Thank you mate yea I do try to keep it tip top Not sure if that temp was right that’s why I hit it 😂🤣 It is hailing now so bloody freezing 👍🏼

Was that just a T-shirt you’re wearing 🥶 Sounds like a great project👍👍 So agree I’d rather rebuild than dig a 5 foot trench! I can think of many that do just fine without a proper bottom drain.

Yea mate too much work and the pond has run fine for 6-7 years with out one 👍🏼👍🏼

Hey Mike 👋🏼 I totally understand the not wanting to dig out as its just a ballache. The Draco gravity fed option seems quite good 👍🏼 you will need to lower your filters to pond level if this is the case. Goodluck mate 💪🏽 👍🏼

Hi. I used a Drayco Retro Fitted bottom drain for a year in my pond, before I dug down and fitted a proper bottom drain this year. I still have it if you're interested in a secondhand one? Stay safe (Keith).

Is it the 4 inch pipe work version as Tony from Draco said the 3 inch won’t give me the flow I need with my pond volume ? Cheers

Have you checked out retro bottom drains from eco filtration I did a video on it check it out it has air membrain for air pump.

Great idea Mike, it will save time and the ballache of it all, retros sound like your best option will you still be going higher? Or will you be re digging the bottom ? Or is the pond going to stay the same and just change the way you filter? All the best, Tel 😊🙏🏻😊
@jiffsterkoi3 жыл бұрын
Hi Tel yea that is my best option the retro I already have is not capable as it only has a 2 inch pipe After speaking with draco he said for my size pond I would need the 4 inch which he can make to order. Still going to raise the pond not sure how many blocks as yet but be nice to get a window installed Think I will start with 2 courses of blocks and see what it looks like 👍🏼 Cheers Mike

First sorry koirun n Anc 🤣 yeah I considered that the wall from draco but im fibreglassed so i decided against it. But yes if u aint puttin in a bottom drain thats ur next best option for a gravity feed just consider that your filters have to be level with the pond too. Im converting my set up onto hard pipe atm from flexi decided its best to do this for the koi when its cold. Love a pond project enjoy 👍🐟😊
@jiffsterkoi3 жыл бұрын
Hi Rich mate yea I think it is my best option I will be able to drop my filters to the same height as the pond level 👍🏼👍🏼 Yes hard pipe is the way forward mate

@tonyfuller14663 жыл бұрын
Can't you just keep that bottom drain and run the pipe to the side anyway. If you go gravity fed there's a lot of work involved getting the levels from pond to filter. You've either got to dig your filters down or raise the sides.
@jiffsterkoi3 жыл бұрын
Hi Tony Yes in my pond thoughts part 1 I mentioned I am building the pond higher the filters won’t be a million miles of then so I can just dig down a foot or so 👍🏼👍🏼 Thanks for watching
