"A New Picture" (Lyrics & Music by Li-sa-X)
Once the words are uttered, they cannot be undone
(So we choose our words carefully)
Once the notes are played, they never come back
(That’s why we practice so carefully)
We all make mistakes
There is no such thing as perfection
But we won't stop talking
We won't stop playing
What was right yesterday is not necessarily right today
I may be ashamed tomorrow of what I told you today
But we won't stop walking
We won't stop loving
Once a picture is done, it should never be altered
(Then it can't be completed forever)
Let's paint a new picture
Where I am today will become a trail tomorrow

Really I don't understand: this blu ray is the best introduction ever to this wonderfull band and show its huge potential.

While experiencing this remarkable rendition you may wonder if there are any artistic limits for these girls. And you might get the idea that the probable answer to that question is: Not too many. Indeed, it needs only very few key impressions to confirm this guess. Here are two significant historical examples of some miraculous adolescent professionalism for all those music aficionados who are still unaware: Kanade Sato at the age of 17 - Festival de Ritmo (Weckl, Oliver) kzbin.info/www/bejne/a5unh42Gr8uGZ8U Li-sa-X at the age of 12 - Dance of Eternity (Myung, Petrucci, Portnoy, Rudess) kzbin.info/www/bejne/pJzEaGCVr9mmhbM) What I hear now as a result is one of the options that were foreseeable very early and it didn't need much musical instinct to imagine what potential a collaboration like this one could have. Nonetheless I am stunned again by the verve, the hardly comprehensible artistic maturity and the accomplished musicianship I am witnessing. - What follows are some compact reflections and conclusions on what I've just watched. (Be warned of some weird, sort of slightly complex stuff, a bunch of adipose lines and trace elements of binge thinking. This statement is not thumbs up friendly, but still subject-related.) Concert audience profile (general): Mature males (a cohort generally tending to relish each and any kind of women's stage presentation) with enhanced music taste, a strong affinity for young female musicians and hopefully not having ulterior motives in that respect; a hedonistic attitude is likely (in the crowd of sensation seekers - yes, Koiai's music can be pretty adventurous). Segmental video description (general): Good production level, solid camera work, occasionally also capturing some peripheral fleeting action. Particularly striking is that ecstatically twitching anonymous animated object appearing in front of the stage, when the video is about thirty seconds old - apparently the hand of a human (hairless, number of fingers: roughly five) and prominent body part of Miss Lisa's happiest victim, whose upper limb is demonstrating high-level musical empathy. - I hope that hand survived the rapture and got some acknowledgement or even a scholarship for the Tokyo College of Music... General adulation to the artists - with reference to one tiny little drawback (addressing): I'm so hopelessly and unreservedly convinced of you Koiai wondermaidens, of your artistic capabilities and the pretty things you do that a little formal counterpoint could be indicated (and I think the issue has some substance and may be worth considering): I have no problems with backing track supplements, but the piano part in this arrangement is essential and on a live music stage it's a bit peculiar to hear such a very present, familiar and traditional sound coming out of nowhere (a case of something's missing). So I urgently recommend to get you a potent keyboardist of flesh and blood (I obviously don't have to tell you what effective piano, organ and synthesizer sounds can contribute to a song - I also noticed some piano and synth pad background as part of your "Automatic" arrangement). Considering Koiai's musical format I would expect nothing but a masterclass graduate. (Like Rick Wakeman joining Yes in 1971, like Patrick Moraz joining Yes in 1974, both having a classical background - two consecutive quantum leaps in the history of ambitious popular music, being part of an infinitely iconic project that I always deemed the backbone of progressive rock in general (I know about Kanade's "Roundabout"). Or think of the third generation, particularly of Threshold, being essential in their own way, the masters of prog metal drama, who use exactly that instrumentation on most of their albums; the two guitars and the keyboards work tremendously well together. And then, well, those notorious German pyros... you know... that simple and brute blast of beastliness, tamed by the keys.) Mild apotheosis of the achievement (addressing): That said, I am thoroughly amazed that you splendid damsels of Koiai were able to transfer this feisty and contrasty and tricky and juicy music into a concert scenario. The energetic impact of the studio version is even augmented here and that dramatic dynamic switch from snare's single to double accent rhythm pattern gets my brain into high frequency oscillation mode. (Miss Sato, ever since Marie Fukai's "Run Up" that you did with Muses - a truly dynamic blast wave, highly energetic and atmospheric at the same time, including that unleashed, hot running interplay part of organ and drums - I know that you occasionally can be a pretty merciless drummer fury. And in this equally hefty Koiai case I indeed would be disappointed if you weren't. - I am hopeful that you keep on getting yourself rampant when it's needed.) This all is not just well done, the tune is rather made for rock music's Mount Olympus and I look forward to your next overwhelming virtuoso escapade. (Side note: I'm actually a speed obsessionist, too, but if I tried to play the keys faster than all of you usually execute your instruments, then this would hardly be possible without losing shape - which may be no big deal within a rock music arrangement, but would be a capital sin in the classical piano domain; ear and brain are the limits, when it comes to identifying musical shapes and structures. However, if accuracy is subordinate, it's actually quite easy to do arbitrary prestissimo things on the piano and other keyboards, simply because with using so many fingers parallelly you can blend things as much as you please. The crucial points are the respective locations of the consecutive tones and how many keys you have to hit at the same time. (Reminder: Commonly the human's biological corpus has two hands, two feet, ten fingers and one single brain available, with the latter not rarely being the critical parameter.) This rather sober technical issue is one of the many reasons why playing classical music (particularly playing the classical organ) is probably the hardest artistic challenge of all. In the rock music domain, however, guitarists often feel superior in terms of sound, sound modulation, sound authenticity and above all expressiveness; they occasionally claim that many keyboard players desperately try to make their solos sob like a long and deeply suffering lead guitar. Yes, that might be true and you find many respective (producing and reproducing) examples in the music industry. On the other hand, something like the guitarist's tapping technique appears to me like playing the piano without keys (mechanically there is only a slight difference between tapping and hitting). I think, both measures are legitimate - so take the best of everything and you will shine. Anything goes in the world of art...) Desirable prospect (addressing): My dear swift Koiai ladies, it's only you (and your way of performing) who are to blame for heating up my expectations (and not only mine, as I notice). So please keep on swirling, since I urgently like to be baffled by you - again and again. Thank you all in advance for this. - Hope to see you soon walking the path of glory. The world is waiting...

Thanks for posting; somehow I missed out on the blu ray. 😢 There’s some great playing, and Kotono looks to have the makings of a great front woman! Looking forward to your future endeavors!
