I very much doubt if this is a work in the "MUST HEAR" category, but a good one nonetheless. I hear Dukas in the scherzo, and if I had no idea who the actual composer was, I would have guessed Alan Hovaness. And that WAS a complement. I need to track down and listen to more of this composer's works. This is the very first time I have heard ANY of Kishi's music. Certainly not to be heard on our two local classical music radio stations.

Disagree....Just now, even on first hearing, it strikes as a monumental work of astounding structure and 'comprehensible' innovation. Echoes of Hovhaness, sure. Let's see what else he has on KZbin?

I didn`t know at all that Japan once had such a talented composer before World War II. It`s quite lamentable that he died so young.
