All the characters in KKHTA are *severely* weakened compared to canon lore for the sake of the gore fest. What happens when KKHTA Koishi rips canon Koishi to ribbons is that the ribbons kinda just... Come back together. Youkai regenerate from physical damage in mere seconds.

Im curious what canon source established that? I know that fairies, specifically, will eventually be reborn through nature if their bodies are destroyed, but I’ve never heard of what you’re talking about. If anything, id think that the existence of the spell card system as a means to prevent bloodshed between humans and yokai is evidence that at least most yokai *can* be destroyed. Not to mention that what is true of some yokai isn’t necessarily true of them all. There are dozens of species in the series and they all have their own set of rules, so to speak.
