Heyho, lovely interview - just to give a heads-up, I am not sure if you were referring to the Ireland _as_ the UK there at the end, but in case you didn't know: the Republic of Ireland is not part of the UK. So, I'd recommend not saying that when you come over or the Irish will eat you! Haha, I just needed to warn you! :)

Great Irish performer and artist
@tylermaddux52093 ай бұрын
@@MaxPower162 I went to his page and it looks like he doesn’t even really have a following ? Am I missing something Maybe he’s just big in Ireland ? His new big single barely had any views or comments and the actual music itself surprised me that he was popular at first, it didn’t align with my taste at all Then I went though his profile and saw he’s been doing this over a decade and reminds me of Dax, just without the popularity I’m actually genuinely curious. This guy seems to have just popped out of nowhere, is the cultural significance just over seas? Maybe he was famous for awhile in Ireland but not so much now? If anyone has info I’m curious. When I look him up on Reddit I just see he was in some controversy
@lukektt37973 ай бұрын
@@tylermaddux5209 comparing him to Dax is mad disrespectful. He's a nice relatable guy who has a larger following in the UK than worldwide and makes great music.
@hendrystevo3 ай бұрын
@@tylermaddux5209he's pretty big in Ireland and the UK yeah. He’s got his own label (Soft Boy Records) and has some signees that he takes on the road with him some times (Kean Kavanagh, Yenkee, Luca Palm + others). I don’t really get the Dax comparison you’ve brought up? The 2 couldn’t be any different imo lol. As for the controversy; I saw the reddit post you’re talking about (I’m assuming?) and the only mention of Kojaque there is that he and Rejjie Snow are getting some pretty big numbers for being rappers from Ireland but there’s other rappers that are just racist dickheads who have taken this genre founded by black artists and used it as a platform to be openly against black culture. Kojaque isn’t apart of that crowd as they mention in the reddit post. I reckon the TTT guys just wanted him on the show cause they like his music and that’s about it, nothing really to do with his numbers or anything

I get that solely reacting to Hip hop (for the most part) is what generates the most revenue, but it couldn’t hurt to listen to other genres here and there, and artists that put more work into what they do by default, because it is always harder to orchestrate an entire band well, rather than putting together a So/So generic drum loop with semi-Deep lyricism over a droning, repetitive and overdone beat.

Only 2 of the last 8 reactions have been hip hop so we’re always open to suggestions but if anything we haven’t done much hip hop lately. What albums would you want us to react to?
@AhenobarbusHenocied_3 ай бұрын
@@turningthetables I made a mistake right there, Pop and Hip hop. To me they’re interchangeable honestly at this point, which isn’t to say that I don’t enjoy them, but it has become relatively bloated in the past few years. I can’t in good faith recommend anything, that would go against my point to an extent, and to avoid any elitism on my part, because I would recommend things that wouldn’t be the most popular recommendations for the channel, which I understand comes first I can give some recommendations that I believe would do well in the algorithm, and fit into the Pop/Hip hop scene well enough. For hip hop, I would go with Modal Soul by Nujabes, for pop I would go with Geogaddi by Boards of Canada. Both may not fit what is currently popular, but they have some incredible communities behind them that would love a larger channel to do full listens on. A few that sort of fit that moniker, but not as well, “The Mollusk” By Ween, Anything from Aphex Twin, or Frizzle Fry by Primus, all of which have smaller communities, but which have a crazy amount of passion behind them. This isn’t to say that I dislike the channel, I’ve been following since the Lateralus Video, I totally get that recent pop and hip hop reactions do far better on the platform. Can’t fault yall for following the algorithm
@volkova62093 ай бұрын
@@AhenobarbusHenocied_ i'm ngl all you're saying can be summed up as "it's not for me". Hip Hop and Pop are two completely seperate genres, i say that as someone who listens to Hip Hop and sometimes alternative pop. You're trying to speak about Hip Hop objectively but it all sounds like subjective ignorance to me. Hip Hop isn't all repetitive overdone beats with semi-deep lyricism, actually it's the opposite. The HipHop that i listen to usually has very unique production and deeper lyricism than most music i listen to.
