Tried Kokanee fishing a little lake in BC last summer and got skunked, watched a ton of you videos over the winter and went back to that lake last weekend and took home a full limit in a few hours. There were half a dozen others fishing and no one else even had a nibble. I told them to watch your videos. Thanks for giving me the knowledge to catch these amazing fish

You single handily taught me how to Kokanee fish. I would highly suggest Stump lake. You would enjoy this I'm sure. First light is best as Stump will quite often kick up in the afternoon.

I am getting a chuckle. I have a cabin on Bridge Lake and fish the Kokanee lakes in the area. I watch you pull Kokanee every 5 minutes on those US lakes and never see that up here in the Cariboo. Glad to see you struggle up here like I do. I mark tons and catch few!!! I have used your advice on Kokanee fishing from your videos but doesn’t seem to work as well on the Cariboo lakes.

I had a similar problem for early coho on the sound this Sunday. Found a huge bait ball with porpoises feeding as well. Couldn’t keep the line in the water no more then a couple minutes. Several hookups. Lost count at 10 until finally landing my 2 as the tide started to slack but by this time the bait had scattered and nowhere to be found.

One of my favorite videos so far! Thanks for sharing even though you may not have had a stellar fishing day it makes me feel better about myself knowing that even a pro like you can have a slow day! Thanks for all the content you produce. I don’t know how you can focus well enough to catch fish and be informative at the same time. You’re super intelligent and you produce great content.

My buddy and I went kokanee fishing one day and we were knocking them for the first hour in one spot but then the bite died. So we left that area and trolled a different spot. After trolling the new spot for 2 hours and no bites. We looked at each other and said "man we broke the number one rule...never leave fish to find fish." 🤣

I was just up in that area for the first time this July. Beautiful area. So many lakes so little time... I also tried Bridge and only got a laker. After talking to several other anglers they were not getting the Kokes either. I mostly tried for trout, but spent some time on the Kokes. I too noticed how few fishing kayaks there were. I was surprised given how popular they are down here in California. The place looks ripe for it with all the smaller lakes. Most of the trout guys were fishing out of prams or John boat style boats. I was limited to only fishing out of an inflatable while we were Rving and dearly missed my fully rigged Oldtown Sportsman! I want to come back up with the Sportsman next time and do it right. I learned some new fly fishing techniques while up there, that I plan on applying down here. that's one of the things I like most about trying new areas. See how "they do it." So many times you can adopt from somewhere else and apply it to home waters effectively.

@@glynjones584 Stump is my "go to" lake for kokanee as I live in Kamloops. The fish are a little smaller this year but big enough for a meal for two. Got a 15" one on Friday. I have now limited out (5) 9 times in a row lately using Tyler's basic gear of dodger, micro hoochie and either corn or maggots. Early morning is best. Point is, the fish are there. Lately they are down to 45 feet and are congregating in the middle of the lake north of the highway boat launch. Downrigger and fish finder are a must. Rainbow are hard to find this time of year.

I was wondering when you'd get up their. Beings I'm a mid-westerner we used to go to Canada for walleye every year when I was a kid. This was also another excellent episode. It proves you are a human being when you don't catch fish every time out. And, besides losing fish is the addicting part of fishing because you have to go out and redeem yourself the next day. On the last episode that I said was exciting, losing those nice fish really close to the boat really charged me up! It makes me immediately want to go out there and try it myself.

I was up at Sulphurous 1st week of June and had a tough time. Even the locals were echoing that not a lot of people were catching fish. Hathaway on the other hand was very productive and I prefer these small to mid size lakes over places like Bridge and Deka when fishing from my kayak. Great video

Hi! At one point you mentioned that the weather may have played a part in them getting lock-jaw. Do you find that the moon phases affects fishing? And, do you fish differently on cloudy/rainy days?
@spiltmilt
@spiltmilt Жыл бұрын
I find the morning after full moon nights to be a slow bite. Cloudy days can keep the bite going longer but rain squalls generally kill the bite but on occasion the bite will turn on just before the rain starts and then it dies.
