Sirius was an interesting concert. Very conceptual. I feel that Taemin was REALLY burning the candle at both ends at the time though, touring back to back for 3 years straight in Korea and Japan. I think he decided to pull back on some of his vocals in order to put on a good show and honestly preserve himself. Sirius was the first concert I really saw him sing LESS during dance focused performances, IMO, and then he had portions of the concert where he didnt dance and showcased his vocals. He comes from a background where he MUST sing during even the most demanding choreo, he and his group are known for it. See him singing and dancing during Sayonara Hitori or Everybody for instance. Sirius had a couple tracks where he dropped in and out of singing more to focus on the choreo and let the MR cover him. Which is totally fine. Let's not pretend big western stars dont do it ALL THE TIME lol, or that MR isnt used in almost all live vocal/dance stages of any kind.

Literally my favourite concert I've seen thus far. I actually do not care for lip-syncing and prefer it in K-pop at times because I want amazing routines and staging. If I want crazy vocals I'll listen to slow or even mid tempo songs. In Kpop lip-syncing actually makes sense because you get a full on show unlike in the west sometimes when it's just laziness.

he is not singing for this particular performance but for others right after so it would be annoying to go backstage after one song just to get his mic I guess 🤷‍♀️ he also has to divide energy for over 2h of solo performances after all since this is from a concert 😅

Yeah lip-syncing is not a bad thing especially when you're performing like that!

@@Koko3op Unfortunately many kpop stands would differ but your right it’s not bad when your not required to sing for certain song or once in a blue moon since he did live sing during all his other performances.

How the stage elements are incorporated into the dance/song is my favorite part about this one. Especially how the props move with the animation on them

He sings parts of the song live and other parts are playback, its the rule with kpop dancers that sing

He sings while performing, only not during this song on this particular time, because he wanted to focus on his dancing, he wanted to bring the art of the choreography and the meaning of the song, interrelated to the concept of eclipse and black panther. You can check him more on his concerts and shinee concerts. He can sing just perfectly even while dancing ferocious songs. Actually the idea of the stage setups is great, but again, you need to understand the concept of the song first then you'll understand the stage set ups 😊

I dislike when reactors are not informed. First the mic this was a show he went to sing more so unplugging the mic the run back to get it set up? Kind of dumb. Second the stage is a T for Taemin, the song lyrics say Jet black, biting back bordering back, so the black panther image. Then the lyrica say whether the moon stretches or warps when looking up, to take over, to wrap, hide and the sky becomes one. So he closes the T and it is dark. I guess you need to speak Japanese or understand what an eclipse is.

Parts are play back parts are lip sync but because he sings live after in most other tracks of the concert setlist, it would make since just to have his mic set up already.

YES TAEMIN DOESNT NEED HIS DANCERS but he does anyways since it would help him when he chooses to take a breather on stage

And i think it's a mistake to judge kpop using the same rules that are used to judge american or european music. Kpop doesn't follow the same rules. I think it would be better to apreciate it as something entirely different... i could be wrong though...

Whenever I show some of my friends or relatives kpop live performances the first thing I hear is "they don't even sing live, it's all playback" and I'm like bruh...do you see the crazy choreos and routines they do that pretty much none or very few western artists even try to come close to?! kpop is just different, way more artistic and versatile and fitting into more than one box.

I love the British reactions, the UK gets a lot of praise for music but I feel a lot of popular UK acts (except like little mix) are a bit lazy when it comes to performance

100% agree with her about the mic/lip-sync bc it really frustrates me! i've been a fan for 10 years and it just feels so pointless to pretend he's singing, esp bc it seems to distract him from his dancing, and i rly feel like even his best effort at lip-syncing is awkward! we know he can sing well when he's not dancing so i feel like it's just a bit of a waste of energy when his dancing speaks for itself. it'd be even more expressive if he could forget about lipsyncing!

Only for certain stages that he wants to focus on dancing, don't worry amongst all songs he is performing in his concert, there would be at least 2% songs that he is lip-syncing. And usually these songs are very intense and furious songs. Even sayonara and flame of love, sometimes he sings, sometimes he just wants to focus on his dancing because there's something he needs to relay to us, that is art. Don't worry, we all know he is a great performer and swallowed the CD right😊 i mean all 5HINee do!

It's literally pointless to get the mic off for just one single performance tho. He sings live during the concert so why should he go through the hassle to take off the mic and all the equipment for this one performance!? I also don't think his lip sync was awkward at all because Taemin is very expressive with his whole body during a performance and that includes his face. He is not gonna have his lips closed the whole performance. Now THAT would look awkward imo 🤷‍♀️

@@martinam.5673 THIS! Speaking from personal experience as a dancer, you just get so into the performance that you end up mouthing the lyrics. I've seen so many Taemin/SM backup dancers do this too.
