Ateez tends to focus more on the performance part of dancing rather than being extremely synchronized so you can see each of them as individuals as well within one unit. They’re all actually very strong dancers, but for some reason a few of them like to wear tight clothes to practice so their movements can be restricted sometimes lmao or the singers practice to conserve energy
@shishik4571
@shishik4571 2 жыл бұрын
@@rumi1379 I’m aware of Ateez’s synchronization levels, and they do really well in terms of synchronization but the type of synch they’re talking about is matching movement not time. No one can be 100% synchronized (not even seventeen) because everyone has different bodies of shape, size and capacity and brain signals to your muscles work differently so not everyone will move the same way. Ateez tends to have big, flashy, and fun choreography where synchronization isn’t necessarily needed to make the impact but more of the stage presence and the commitment to their characters, which is why I said they tend to focus more on that.
@shishik4571

@@rumi1379 I dance. I watch Ateez dance practices religiously and I watch them individually constantly because I cover Ateez a lot. There is nothing I haven’t seen more than at least three times as a dancer with a critical eye and even more as a fan. Ateez choreography is very theatrical, big movements, smaller details, lots of levels and encouraging different dynamics between members. Ateez are all incredibly strong dancers, and their synch level is very high. But they tend to approach their moves differently despite doing them within the same counts because they dance as individuals harmoniously within a unit. And this isn’t even a bad thing either, the bigger the group is, the harder it is to clean because people understand how to move in ways that are specific to themselves. People pick up habits when learning, they have their own styles, they execute in different ways, some members focus more energy in certain places for emphasis while other members emphasize choreo in other places. And in dance practices especially some members wear jeans and boots while someone else is in sweatpants and sneakers and what you wear when dancing very much affects execution, and they do multiple takes, they practice all day before they film, so dance practices aren’t even always an accurate representation of the full potential of the choreography.

I love this about them because while there's a time & place for the art of precise synchronization, I love that ATEEZ lets their dancers play to their strength. I like that you can tell exactly *who* is dancing based on how they move & their personal style without having to see their faces. It makes them stand out in the industry & as artists.

Also to add to this comment here 11:30 while yes, Jongho is the main vocalist. He is also a very strong dancer. But, this is a return to practice after a knee injury and re-injuring his ankle. In most practices recently, you'll see him take it a bit lighter than everybody else in order to prevent re-injury but to make sure he is learning choreo. If you go back to earlier practices, especially HALA HALA per se? You'll see Jongho move at full force. It's just after that first ankle injury it seemed like he pulled back and you'd catch him on the side focusing on vocals. He is still young and those kinda injuries can be bad when you still have like 6-7 years of performing left to take advantage of before enlistment =/

Ateez are usually a strong dancers. The team mostly don't care about synchronization ( but they are one of the most synchronized group). The members sticks with their individual strengths rather than being in synch since they often do sing lives. They cant be always perfect in synch by also singing along.They just deliver the energy of the song and the group in general to captivate audience. The guy u mentioned is their Main Vocalist the youngest one. He is the one always doing high register in lives and also have a knee injury.U can see his dancing skills in their predebut videos and Concerts in early debuts. Due to his injury and singing skills he was restricted to limited dancing.

I want to see him react to Deja Vu, Wonderland, AND Answer! Another point to consider is that Eternal Sunshine has a chill summer vibe, so the choreo and the way the choreo is executed reflect that style. I think being super in sync and clean would work against the let's hang out and have fun vibe. As far as their relationship, I follow a lot of groups and a great deal of it seems cultural. Members like Hongjoong, who aren't naturally touchy, seem to be the exception to the rule. Another factor is that as soon as debut becomes a glimmer on the horizon, members of kpop groups leave home and move into a dorm together. Sometimes even earlier if their family lives in another city. (I think Ateez has probably lived together for about 4 years.) They are together almost 24/7. The members become their family.

Exactly! I commented a similar comment above, I'd have liked if he reacted to the other songs with more complex dance (which the majority of their songs are) instead of ES
@lan1749
@lan1749 2 жыл бұрын
That comment about Jongho, “He’s main vocalist so it makes sense as he might not be as strong as a dancer” - while he is a main vocalist he is also an exceptional dancer too. I do believe his skill is on par with the group, he can keep up with them and he doesn’t stick out like his dance level is lower than the rest for example. But yes they do have main dancers in groups for a reason. But I hope next time you say it differently...As there are also main vocalists who are also could be main dancers too! (Eg. BTS Jungkook)
@lan1749
@lan1749 2 жыл бұрын
The comment seemed like it’s ok for him to be not a strong dancer just because he is main vocal, as you expect ppl in that position not to be as strong(?) or smth but a lot of main vocals also dance very well. Anyways thank u for showing ateez to your friend, I hope many more people hear about ateez and their talent
@Koko3op
@Koko3op 2 жыл бұрын
It’s really not that deep. It’s just a way to give context to a new viewer who doesn’t know the k-pop word just yet so in this context, it’s totally fine for Jongho to not be “the strongest” in a group of strong dancers because he’s also a main vocal. In Shownu, Jungkook, JB’s case it would be a different story. I am not going to realistically explain all that to a reactor on camera and overload them with more information than necessary. In this instance he simply wasn’t on par and that’s because of the injury which is fine. This suddenly doesn’t mean we now see him as a subpar dancer. At all, however in comparison to the stronger dancers (San, Yunho & Wooyoung! there is much of a difference to a critical eye. I’m very familiar with ATEEZ as others can tell and I have watched Kingdom. I’m well aware what each member can do.
@lan1749
@lan1749 2 жыл бұрын
I mean yes in this video he isn’t in the best condition anyways but that comment seemed more general since I believe u didn’t know about his injury then. I just wanted to tell u how it came across to some viewers watching... so please just think about some of these comments as feedback on some videos. Also yes of course him not being “on par” with the rest of atz in this video doent mean in general, he’s not a good dancer at all as u said. The comment seemed to come across differently like a stereotype that main vocalists are the weakest in dancing that’s all.

The thing to note about Ateez choreo is that most times it's not all of the members doing the exact same move. It is choreographed that way. Also for the parts where they do the same move, they don't do those same moves exactly the same. Ateez choreo is free sync. Basically, they show their own personal style in the moves unlike most kpop which is every member try to do moves exactly alike. I love it because they show their own personality and expressions. It's why they have gained fans because its not poker face and robots aka everyone doing the exact same with no personality.

AT 11:55, I think I heard you saying he is not the strongest dancer. It's not really about the dancing and we could have a huge discourse on it because Jongho is way more amazing as a dancer which goes unnoticed easily due to the focus on his vocals and he specializes in a different dance style (krumping). The step seems odd because he had just come out of a knee injury so he was not stressing much on the dance moves.

If you watched all 3 of the KQ Fellaz group performances, you would see that ALL of the members are strong dancers. Jongho (blue shirt n jeans) happens to be the lead for the KQ Fellaz dance to Cardi's Lick. There is also KQ Fellaz dance to Desiigner's Outlet then Yunho solo one. Ateez have also danced to One Time Coming and Sicko Mode. They eat up every dance.

Ateez is more about passion and the performance than being in sync. Also, they can all dance really well. There aren’t any JUST SINGERS or JUST DANCERS. There aren’t any that lack at being one because they do the other. Jongho was coming off an injury, which is why he didn’t dance in the Deja Vu mv. If you want to see them doing more dances, I recommend the Say My Name, Wonderland, and Hala Hala practices.

Thanks for this, it was great to hear the points you guys raised on the video. Others have already mentioned Jongho recovering from injury etc. which affects his moves but also yeah him being the main vocal rarely gives him the opportunity to really show off his dancing skills. Which is kinda shame since at least I personally really love his quick footwork we have seen only couple of times - though of course being the source of heavenly vocals there's that. Ah and personally I really love Seonghwa's groove though I enjoy seeing each of their own styles meshing together as a group - which to me is one of ATEEZ stenghts too. Would love to see todays reactor (sorry, im not native english speaker and couldnt quite catch their name) thoughts on some of their live performances of Eternal Sunshine or perhaps other stages too and see what they think compared to the dance practice^^

I remember seeing those and thought they were a new dancing crew like the KINJAZ or Jabbawockeez lmao, I don’t particularly like their music but their dance is on point you really see that they’re actually dancers. Also being military in sync is a style you like or not but some dancers go for super in synch with shorter moves and easier ones so that visually it’ll appear more in synch but it doesn’t mean that they’re good dancers lol it’s easier to be in synch than execute well the moves. Not too familiar with them but it seems they’re more focused on the vibe and executing well the moves rather than have a plan and synch choreo which is to me better. I prefer groups/ dancers having that type of vibe where you can actually peer they have musicality and are dancers.

what i love about ATZ dance style is that while synchronisation can has it’s beauty and it’s always satisfying ATZ does the opposite in terms of synchronising every move and angle. each member has a certain groove and they all come together cohesively so it doesn’t look “too clean” it’s funny cause at times it can seem like all the moves are different but they also still create that effect of it being clean ?

actually, for Jongho, ofc the fact that he is the main vocal and usually has to hit that high note makes him doesn't really pay attention to his dance, it is also because he has an injury, if I am not mistaken he has a leg/foot problem. he didn't even dance in the mv because of that.

Dance Practice videos are approached differently across kpop groups and from song to song - I think what you are seeing in the dance practice as being more laidback or not hitting parts as hard comes down to the way ATEEZ were approaching the Eternal Sunshine dance practice in a more fun and lighthearted way for fans. You'd see that difference in a live stage performance - they aren't 'speeding up' that footage while performing on stage.

13:35 Putting aside the fact that whether or not any idols are in a relationship is, well, none of our busines, unless they tell us directly: Korea has quite different standards for guy-guy interactions and male kpop idols are waaaaaaay touchier than any western male bandmates. It's both because of the culture and fan service. On top of that, WooSan are VERY affectionate people on their own. You can't apply US standards here. Tl;dr: I really don't like when people take shipping into "I actually think they're together" teritory
@Koko3op
@Koko3op 2 жыл бұрын
Sounds like the possibility of two guys being together makes you a bit uncomfortable. If they were a boy/girl pairing acting like this, it would be way more acceptable to say "i think they're actually together". I'm a queer man, (most of us) of course are going to hope there's reality behind the fan service. There's many ships I see and don't mention because it's clear they're close intimate but platonic friends or it's fan-service but some are just stand outs. SO whether or not they admit it which I don't think they have to, they ARE dropping crumbs for us that some of us happily eat up.

@@Koko3op If they were a boy/girl pairing it would be more accteptable and I do think it's a problem. The endless speculations on whether 2 people of different genders that spent 30 sec in the same room, are in a relationship stem from this acceptance. So I'd love to see it changed as well. About the hope for representation: I get it. I also sometimes look at fan service or actions of girl groups' members and *crave* for there to be more to them behind the scenes. But even if it feels really good to believe MoonSun are a lesbian power couple thriving in the conservative kpop industry, assuming that as a fact is putting my nose where it doesn't belong. They're strangers to us and their real personal lives can be fun to speculate about, but in the end we really don't know them privately.

I also want to say that you should know at least that all kpop performers have to be able to dance in all types of clothing. Plus I've noticed that usually if they practice in jeans, they might be wearing jeans in the video etc.. Not always.. Then there are some who are always going to walk in the studio in full dance gear. Also I think these guys are all about self expression. I don't have to really go further than that to explain since others have. I also understand what you mean about strong dancers. Though it's been pointed out that jongho purposefully dances not as well to pull off vocal technique. I think you have to be a very strong dancer to be able to do that. I don't think he is the strongest dancer, but I don't think he is the least strong. I also feel the dynamic of strength has shifted a bit in this new era but it isn't fair to him with the injury. I used to think San was the worst dancer..lol only because he gets so wild... But it's just his style. I've seen how great he is toned down. It's kinda hard to judge. This particular choreography doesn't show them off that well. I am a huge fan of seventeen..I live synchronized dance... But I get so captivated by these guys. Their emoting is amazing. Should have shown deja Vu. It's such an androgynous dance over all... But just has more dancing in it.

Why some of y'all are being negative about his comment about Jongho? Yes Jongho was injured but it's not like he said that he's a bad dancer... Plus,Jongho's main skill is singing not performing.
