I really enjoyed this. I’ve done a fair amount of bike packing on my road bike but never on the trail. Chase and Jordan have an engaging on camera presence and great attitude that kept me watching to the end. I was impressed by all the challenges you faced and overcame but more importantly how you kept a positive attitude going through it. The scenery is beautiful and the video shots pull you right in. I felt like I was on the bike with you. Well done. I’ll be watching more. Tom

I was just going to ask where’s your water lol. Sounds like fun though. I’m glad you were both ok- next time perhaps do a little more research. Like perhaps bring a battery charger for your phones and turn one off so the other can have a full charge when one dies. Also maybe be sure to bring first aid kit - well because as you could see-definitely some spots where you could have been really hurt in the middle of nowhere. But heck yeah being out in the middle of no where on a bike so awesome! The sleeping bag being so small cracked me up. Been there done that and more like bringing a bag that was not rated for snow-yep squeezed into a mummy bag with my boyfriend 😆.

I've been trying to see what brand of bikes you are riding. Were those Walmart/Target specials, or better brands? There were streches where you were going a lot faster in the rocks than I would have. when I start a ride, like on Thanks Giving day I rode 58.6 miles. The sun went down and the tempratures dropped 12--15 degrees. Or would have rode and extra 4--5 miles if I hadn't started getting so cold. I start my rides with drinking at least a quart of water and 5--6 cups of coffey. In future get kick stands --it's worth the extra 6--750 grams.

What bivy are you guys using? Pros and cons of it?

Hey good question! We ended up grabbing the Outdoor Research Helium Bivy. Pros: Well, one of our favorite parts about this bivy is that it comes with a lightweight pole that can be used to keep the bug net off of your face at night. It actually feels pretty roomy in there when using the pole. Of course, if you're counting ounces, you don't need to bring the pole, but we think it's worth it. The system packs down small and light. We're still trying to work out the kinks in our sleep system, but this bivy seems to be a staple of our kit already! Cons: It's a bright orange color, which can be good or bad. It's good if you want to be seen, but maybe not as good if you're trying to do a bit of stealth camping on the side of the road or in places where you might not want to be as noticeable. Other than that, we haven't really noticed any cons. We don't have a very big sample size of bivys to compare it to, so we can't give you a pros and cons compared to other options. But, this seems to be a good option for us so far! Thanks for tuning in! Feel free to reach out with other questions! -Chase

I thought that it was a Helium but wasnt sure, I like that bivy too. I used it for one season bikepacking and hiking this past fall and winter. I did a review on it on my channel. I am switching to a tent this year to try that out but Im always a sucker for a bivy and I like to see what others are using. Have you seen or tried the Alpkit Elen? You guys did a good job on the video and I enjoyed watching. Im looking forward to watching your next adventure.

@@ChasingJo I switched to the Tarptent Protrail LI. Its a nice single person tent. For the two of you I would look at the Motrail. It will weigh a little more than the two bivys but will give you more living space. I did a review of the Protrail on my channel if you want to see it. Tarptent makes and sells poles so you dont have to use trekking poles to set them up.

In my opinion, the Whole Enchilada was the best part! Although it wasn't included in the video, it was a great way to cap off that ride. It's a solid downhill with a few punchy climbs, but overall a great ride. 👊, Jo
