Dude, this is SO HELPFUL to me as a hobby computer aviationist. My virtual "squad" and me do a lot of JTAC events based on the JP03-09.3 and this is SUCH a great example of real life JTAC comms. We will so use this in our next CAS evenings. Lovely, thanks so much for uploading that cool event! Wonder how many people in the audience were bored by that where I am like "gimme MOAR of that sweet comms chatter" :D

Happy you enjoyed it. (^_^ ) I'm not sure the crowd is bored, but it is indeed very technical speech at quite a fast tempo and not always perfectly readable, unlike other airshow demonstrations that are usually pretty action-driven. A narrator probably would've helped a lot, because if you don't have any knowledge about phraseology and tactical brevity, I'm sure the comms could be in Chinese or Russian, and you'd understand just as much. :D We know what they were talking about, yet while adding the subtitles for this video, we had to listen, pause, think, rewind and listen again hundreds of times (I really wish that was an exaggeration, but unfortunately it's not...) before we properly understood what was said. Then, after uploading the video, we still noticed a few mistakes here and there. :D

@@belgianvirtualtigers I totally understand that! Even if only in the virtual, my squad and me did this a few dozen times and we still had to rewatch this a few times to appreciate and get all of it. We are nerding out on this in our Discord right now, so thanks again and I hope I can witness another open day here in person after we left Covid 19 behind, it's not too far for me after all :)

@@belgianvirtualtigers thanks for the effort - I watched the first time without looking at the subs and would have rewound a hundred times quite like yourself.

I'm glad they use "continue dry" even when demonstrating a bomb drop jtac call for the airshow. It's just an airshow but the word "cleared" is reserved for when something will actually fall off the jet. Obviously not something that's gonna happen at an airshow.

While this is undoubtedly a sanitized scenario, likely preplanned to the finest detail by both the JTAC and pilots, the mindset of "Train as you fight" still applies. If you are sloppy during training, you will be sloppy in combat, which is - for obvious reasons - inexcusable. :)

the 'dry' means that they do not use the afterburner for the show of force. it does not mean doing a "dry run" in terms of "do not use weapons for real pls". a show of force basically is just a low flyby to let the opposing force know, that you are there and ready to attack, in the hopes of scaring the enemy of and not having to use lethal force at all. it's meant to be a warning and in most counter insurgency scenarios this is best practice and effective enough (and cheaper). when using afterburner, the engines inject jet fuel behind the turbine to generate more thrust, while burning fuel at a much faster rate (and making more noise). the extra fuel then burns as a hot flame that can be seen coming out of the engines. the maximum thrust in afterburner would be referred to as 'wet', since more liquid (fuel) gets spilled into the engine. so basically JTAC is telling them to show off not all the force, presumably because of the neighbours and obviously...to save fuel.

@@WirklichGegenReal hey man, you are wrong. Continue dry means you’re going to simulate an attack without anything coming off the jet. - F-16 pilot

@@jackm4690 while you seem to be right on that one, why do this if a show of force is a dry run already? would jtac give a "cleared show of force" in real combat instead of continue dry?
