Hi Allen here. Nice video! I noticed that you have vortex generators. I plan to put them on my kolb kxp firestar, how did you decide on the position back from the leading edge.

Would you mind if you could share how much thrust the F23 can pull with the biggest reduction drive ? any airplane owners or testers that know? Really highly appreciated!

Of course it depends a lot on the reduction ration and prop. But it will will do at least 280 lbs. I think it will probably do better than that with the right prop.

So, does the "vehicle" still make Part 103 weight? What is the current prop (size) and tail boom clearance? Could the engine be lowered in the frame at all? Regardless, that aircraft / engine combo is definately on my bucket list.

I believe it can. This guy was not particularly interested in the weight and it was around 280 if I remember right. I think if you are careful you can make it. It's a very nice flying aircraft. A bit more expensive than the quicksilver or Aerolite, but I really like how it flies.

@@andyinjohnstown Thanks for the reply. I had read, or heard, somewhere that the F23 was a few pounds lighter than the Rotax 447, even fitted with electric start and such. That kind of led to to believe it could make weight without much fuss.
@andyinjohnstown4 жыл бұрын
@@sansdecorum4600 Truth be known, the 447 never made weight on anything. Every one of them was over, in every airframe. But nobody cares. The quicksilver can only make weight with a 447 if it has a parachute. It's tight with the F23, even though the engine is lighter and we removed 17 lbs of shaft drive system! But really, no one will ever look twice at it if everything else is legal. The FAA isn't interested in minor weight deviations in part 103. If you have a second seat they will grill you. If you have a ton of fuel, they will likely bother you a little bit. But if everything else is good and its a few pounds over, the only way they will bother you is if you are otherwise unsafe or make a nuisance of yourself. The key is, get trained if you haven't already, do good maintenance, fly safe and act professional. That's the most important thing.

@@andyinjohnstown Thanks for elaborating on that.

bad idea to start the engine when plane not tied down nor pilot in seat. if (for any reason) the engine revs up, it would be a major problem to control the plane and kill the engine

It’s not a professional video. It’s January and it was freezing, cold and breezy out. I don’t have a sound guy. I have a friend with an iPhone. 🙄
