2024 election is coming, so lots of "updates" will come with optimistic dates. But actual result will be little - like the Joka-Taratala line running joy ride service, hyping of minor achievements and inauguration of 1 station at a time and finger pointing between State and Centre. Only thing I am optimistic is extension of Taratala line to Majerhat and New Garia-Ruby joyride service in the next 6 months.

I think the TMC State Government should also follow the BJP model for Metro by going slow 4 years and then in the 1 year before election, pump the money, make lots of announcements and achieve in 1-2 years what they would have done in 5 years. And they are really bad on PR. 18 projects for widening State Highway are going on, and hardly few people know that. It's the age of noise and PR.

Thanks for the update, as an ex civil engineer, ami Kolkata metro er updates nie always khub uttejito thaki. Till barasat re alignment ta dorkar chilo. Eta bhalo decision. Tobe orange line and purple line er kaj er ja speed, 2027-28 er age metro start hobe bole mone hoy na puro line e. Metror planned route gulo jemon santragachi and barrackpore er kono jodi updates thake janaben.

The dates sound too optimistic. I hope they don't start operations till Beleghata like they did with the Purple line. I have doubts about installation of signalling system within December this year. Also to run proper metro service from New Garia to Beleghata by Dec 23 and to Sector V by Jun 24, metro needs a LOT of additional rakes. Also what is the status of signalling on Purple line? Are we going to see more frequent services once Majerhat metro becomes operational?

Kolkata metro is facing shortage of rakes then how will they operate these lines for Joka-Taratala section they took two rakes from Blue line temporary. Kolkata metro ordered 14 Dalian rakes but only 1 has arrived till now and new rakes for upcoming new lines will not reach so soon
