Kolkata - Siliguri highway in Dec 2022 | Pending 4-lane work | Kalyani Expy, NH-12 (NH 34), NH-27

Here I discuss how much 4-laning work is still pending along Kolkata to Siliguri highway route, as of Dec 2022. In particular, I discuss the work progress in last 6 months, since June 2022.
In last 6 months, Raiganj - Dalkhola section has now become the fastest section of Kolkata Siliguri route with speed limit of 100 km per hour.
In this video I discuss the route: Bagdogra Railway Over bridge - Bagdogra Airport - Kishanganj Flyover - Purnia More Dalkhola - Dalkhola Bypass - Karandighi Bypass - Raiganj Bypass - Malda - Farakka bridge - Berhampore Bypass - Bhabta ROB - Beldanga - Sadhukhali - Chetiani - Debagram - Chandpur - Bamandanga - Krishnanagar - Barajaguli - Kalyani Expressway - Kolkata Airport
As per ongoing work, the widening work of the Kolkata - Siliguri highway via Kalyani Expressway, NH-12 (old NH-34) and NH-27 (old NH-31) is expected to be mostly completed by the end of 2023.

Nice video as usual, but i feel the progress between barajaguli and ranaghat is tardy at best. Rangaht to krishnanagar has progressed a lot but the present condition near simurali and chakdah is pathetic added with kms long traffic congestion at ranaghat level crossing.

the drive time in this route can never be predicted unless you have a flyover at kaliachowk ( that too a long one), during day time that is as unpredictable as farakka bridge movement. but yes your efforts in finding the informations in such details is commendable boss,

Given it's a busy route, I think there will be many takers of VB express. However, time wise it's doing marginally better than existing Shatabdi express by only a ~45 min (less number of stoppages too!). However, if you include the time to arrive at HWH station from one's home and then depart from NJP to destination then time advantage isn't much compared to highway. For example, consider my personal case which is bit stretched, but it would give you an idea. If 3 of us would like to travel by Vande Bharat to Siliguri then we have to depart from home at 3:30 am (to have some buffer time to reach HWH) by paying Rs. 1500+ for Ola/Uber with night charges. Then 1500 x 3 as fares and another ~1000 rs for a cab from NJP for an hour distance. It means, we need to pay total Rs. ~7000 and it would take 11 hour from home to destination. In contrast, if we start at 3:30 am in our car, then we would reach same destination in 12 hours by spending only rs 3700 for petrol (600 km, at 17 kmpl @ Rs. 106/l ). After Raiganj and Berhampore bypass opens (hopefully before next Pujo), the highway time will be less than 11 hours. Overall, VB will be a good option for some but it's not a game changer. In future , LBH train will be phased out by VB type distribute motor trainsets. But need to wait 5 years from now - 2027-28 at least. By next 5;years , hope 75% 4 lane , ROB work NH12 will be done.. খানিকটা কুয়াশা অবশ্যই থাকবে। তবে কম বেশি হতে পারে, ভোরের দিকে কুয়াশা একটু বেশি হয়। তখন একটু সাবধানে চালাবেন। দরকার হলে কিছুক্ষণ দাড়িয়ে যাবেন। আপনার ডুয়ার্স যাত্রার জন্য শুভেচ্ছা রইল।

Road is good on both highway...except Via Falakata Siliguri > Sevoke > Mal > Binnaguri > Telipara more > Birpara > Hasimara > Alupurduar or Siliguri/Fulbari bypass > Jalpaiguri bypass > Maynaguri Bypass > Dhupguri > Birpara > Hasimara > Alipurduar From Dhupguri > Falakata > Alipurduar route (under construction four lane after Falakata). Welcome in dooars.
