I'm Bengali but do not live in Bengal. I feel sad when I hear colleagues and people who've never been to Bengal think that its like Bangladesh, which also they've never visited. Their perception that Kolkata and West Bengal is Muslim dominated etc etc is so far from the truth. I was in a hostel near Park Street during Christmas'21 and the festive feeling was amazing. There may have been less than 1% Christians in the crowd, but everyone was celebrating like it was their own festival and a super ratio of men & women. Every state has its problems, and I got mixed feelings when I was in Cal. Food is just too good, and very reasonable.

Love it totally. One more fun fact, Uber driver in Kolkata will ask what is the mode of payment even before my destination. If it is online payment, they will disconnect the phone and trip will go for an eternal search 😊. And yes, u are so right abt the Kolkata night life, it truly ends at 8:30, cuz last metro is at 9:45 😅

I’m from Kolkata and it’s relatable af. And people here don’t even know what development means. Agar pata hota to ab tak to bullet train ki demand kar chuke hote. And people who’s own children are going to other states for jobs are continuing to keep voting the same party who does nothing here. If your kid has to go somewhere else don’t you think there’s something wrong with your state and your government. People’s blindness and indifference here is amazing and not in a good way. But then again it’s those who take pride on structures built by colonial rulers like the victoria memorial and howrah bridge, literally not our achievements 💁‍♂️ And the disdain for Hindi speakers is like through the roof. Many of them live in different places because their jobs require traveling from one location to another. However, there is indifference among people everywhere. I have seen many Hindi speakers who disdain Bengalis, whether for their food choices, language, or culture. There are also many people in India from different states who take pride in things they didn't build or make. Therefore, your statement isn’t very insightful

Same for Orissa with jagannath temple and konark sun temple.
