Nice video! Enjoyed it. It is not easy for a solo biker to complete the trip, however, you did it. Congratulations! I had been there at Gurudongmar Lake with my wife (with Bolero arranged by the travel agency) on 12 May 2012. I feel like going back there once again and wish to be there on a bike. Unfortunately, my wife is worried about the route of north Sikkim. She is not interested in going there again and does not allow me to go either. Probably because of my two children!!! I visited Sikkim four times earlier covering north, east, and west. However, I always feel that the Sikkim is the place we must visit once in a year! All the best for your future attempt!

Okay, sujay. So here are some doubts: #1 Do you know any dealer for renting bike from gangtok, personally or through recommendations? We can pick up a bike from Siliguri as well, would that be better than shared cab to gangtok and then bike? #2 Would routes to Gurudongmar Lake working around mid-Jan? #3 Which one is better for biking: North or East Sikkim? #4 Where should I contact regarding permits and all for biking and do they have any strict restrictions? Yash Chauhan 1. Hmm ... I heard about bike renting in siliguri/gangtok but have no idea how it's work. It is better to ride your own bike. If you stay far from west bengal then just ship your bike to siliguri through Train or some percel services like Gati and all.

Yash Chauhan I don't recommend the winter for biking in sikkim. The best time is the window between rain and winter which is mid October.

Pawan Singh well I already said it many times ... reach gangtok by 10am and go straight to the new secretariat bulding ... put your application with 2 copies xerox of Votar Icard, Driving Licence, Your Bike's RC, Insurance and Pollution with 2 copies recent color passport size photo. Apply within 11am and request them to give the permission by 3pm on the same day. If you get the permission on that day then on the next day .... goto permit office in MG marg within 7am and apply for permit. The permit office will ask for the permission letter that you got from the secretariat building ... after getting the permit make atleast 10 copies xerox of that and then ride.

yes everything including fuel, hotel, food etc. I didn't count it step by step but when I returned to kolkata my account shows 10k less money. so.... just make sure your bike is properly serviced ... check the tyres, chains, clutch and throttle cables. and always keep medium size chain cleaner and chain lube ... and apply it to the chains after each 500-600kms
