Today we will take you all to the highest organic tea plantation in the world, that too at 7150 feet...and the highest peak of Kulukumala at 8100 feet where you can see the sunrise.
About 7 km of the total 10 km drive is paved off-road. It is safe to say that on this trip we were not disappointed with the sights that included the layas where the workers of HML estate live and the surrounding tea plantations.
If we sit in the tent and look straight ahead, we can see the mountain ranges looking at us in the distance. And the climate above 7000 feet is not worth mentioning, right?
Saw this tea garden which is more than 100 years old and walked to the tea factory. Although we came here from Kerala, we are now standing in Tamil Nadu. Kulukumala tea plantation and tea factory are located in Kotagudi village in Bodinaikkanur taluk of Theni district.

ആകെയുള്ള 10 കിലോമീറ്റർ ഡ്രൈവിൽ 7 കിലോമീറ്ററോളം ഓഫ് റോഡാണ്. ഈ യാത്രയിൽ എച്ച്എംഎൽ എസ്റ്റേറ്റിലെ തൊഴിലാളികൾ താമസിക്കുന്ന ലയകളും ചുറ്റുമുള്ള തേയിലത്തോട്ടങ്ങളും ഉൾപ്പെടുന്ന കാഴ്ചകൾ ഞങ്ങളെ നിരാശപ്പെടുത്തിയില്ല എന്ന് തന്നെ പറയാം.
ടെന്റിൽ ഇരുന്നു നേരെ നോക്കിയാൽ ദൂരെ മലനിരകൾ നമ്മെ നോക്കുന്നത് കാണാം. 7000 അടിക്ക് മുകളിലുള്ള കാലാവസ്ഥ പറയേണ്ടതില്ലല്ലോ?
100 വർഷത്തിലേറെ പഴക്കമുള്ള ഈ തേയിലത്തോട്ടം കണ്ട് തേയില ഫാക്ടറിയിലേക്ക് നടന്നു. കേരളത്തിൽ നിന്നാണ് ഇവിടെ എത്തിയതെങ്കിലും ഇപ്പോൾ നിൽക്കുന്നത് തമിഴ്നാട്ടിലാണ്. തേനി ജില്ലയിലെ ബോഡിനായ്ക്കനൂർ താലൂക്കിലെ കോട്ടഗുഡി ഗ്രാമത്തിലാണ് കുലുകുമല തേയിലത്തോട്ടവും തേയില ഫാക്ടറിയും സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നത്.
