My question is why his parents didn't take care of him.sounds like there just as much to blame.

Sounds like you don't understand how difficult, almost impossible, it is to care for someone like this. You must work to pay for everything, yet always be home to care for them, be at their side even while cooking, sleeping, showering, peeing! It's impossible

@Abby-yc7tt sounds like your one of those type of parents.they pay you to take care of them so don't give your excuses as to why they didn't take care of there kid . they got him out as soon as he turned 18.

It's a mix of both. The system is broken is a larger issue...

What type of parent? I'm a parent of a disabled 31yr old child. The system doesn't pay squat, I don't work to take care of her, hubby is a journeyman electrician so we have good income, good insurance and his veteran discount... Still does not compare to her medical needs! I have to hire extremely expensive people just to go to the grocery store. Sounds like you need to learn some empathy cuz you clearly don't understand

Are you in WA state? My wife is a respite worker, paid by the state, for a disabled adult that lives at home. The parents are well off, and yet the disabled man is on medicaid and gets benefits that pay 100% of his care including food, rent(which goes to the parents), medical, clothing everthing. The father gets paid a couple thousand a month to take care of him. My wife makes hundreds a month so the parents can go shopping, or date night, without him. @Abby-yc7tt
