This was such an amazing place my wife and I stayed at in the late 70's. All the staff knew you by name, no phones, no TV or radios. A very tranquil place and so relaxing. We have never forgotten those days and were waiting to return when we heard about the damage from the storm. We were so disheartened, but hope they will rebuild.

Tears fill my eyes as I watch this beautiful video of what Kona Village once was before it was damaged by the backlash of the Tsunami a few years back. The first time we visited, "The Dreamiest Place on Earth", was in 1990 when our parents renewed their vows on the beach. Eighteen of us were blessed to be there for this special occasion. Dr. and Mrs. Hunner had visited the Village many times before, and after that time. Those of us who experienced this beautiful Polynesian Village are still broken hearted that it has not yet reopened. My husband and I were blessed to visit the village 3 more times before it was destroyed. We pray that we will be able to visit this beautiful creation before it is too late for us to travel there. We love you Kona Village, Bob and Joan K.

Joan-we were there today! THey are rebuilding as fast as they can for a re-opening next year or early 2020! We created a video today which shows how it looks now (which is sad) but will be refurbished very soon!

Thank you for sharing this. I'm currebtly at mauna lani in the coast form kvr. I used to visit the village with my family when I was a kid and we visited what's left of the village this trip and had a good cry remembering the times. I hope to buy you a drink a the shipwreck bar when they open again in 2022. Mahalo
