Konicas and their Hexanons are ace-in-hole sleeper legends that do not get enough respect today. Great stuff! Black ones are definitely less common but wouldn't call them rare. I just restored one about a month ago, brought back from the absolute dead. Great, affordable, lovely compact and capable little shooters.

Great lenses too. I have one of its larger brothers the Konica S2 which has a beautiful lens. A review coming soon. I have a few cameras which need some attention but have avoided trying to repair them yet after trying to fix a Zenit EM with a dodgy shutter. Must have another try..... I love to hear about people repairing cameras......I often watch Chris Sherlocks channel. Cheers David

@@thereluctantphotographer Good stuff - I'll keep a lookout here. :) I've an Auto S2 myself as well - definitely a great lens there, and seems to be a favorite among the Hexanons which is deserved. I prefer the 38mm versions on these (and the faster one on the Auto S3/ C35 FD) overall but the Auto S2 is such a pleasure to use with it's lovely viewfinder and rangefinder with those brightlines and parallax correction. Just great cameras around eh. Cheers as well. :)

Thank you so much for this walkthrough. I decided to get a mint condition c35v for myself. I just love the look of the unedited snapshots this can produce.

I adore these cameras. I've a C35EF, C35AF2, and C35FD (AutoS3). The EF was my first introduction - my grandmother's. I was astounded by the quality of the images from that modest zone-focus camera off the first roll I shot with it. Have been in love with Konica ever since.

Yes they are great to use and as you say give great results. I have an 'auto S2' which I'll be reviewing soon, bigger than the C35 and feels 3 times the weight, superb lens as well.

@@thereluctantphotographer I have one as well (and have resuscitated two I've sold on in the past 3 or 4 years). That 45mm may be the best of the bunch.

I have been wanting to shoot some film for some time and picked one of these up today at a local flea market for $20 in black. Looking forward to giving it a try.

The Konica C35 Automatic/Flashmatic was made fro mid-1970 to mid-1977. Yours is from July 1974. Over a million units were made.

Did you have any problems using the LR44s? I've read that some change the ISO to compensate for different batteries
@thereluctantphotographer3 ай бұрын
I've not had any problems with B&W film. It's probably worth testing the exposure against a meter for colour or transparency film.

Bought this camera but I’ve never really know how what ASA should I use. What would you reckon for a normal street photography shot? Cheers
@thereluctantphotographer2 жыл бұрын
Hi, with the camera you have a shutter speed range from 1/30 to 1/650 and an asa range from 25 to 400. So if it's a bright day I would use a 100asa film and for a dull day a 400asa. I would start with those ASA films and see what results you get. This would apply to both B&W and Colour film. You will also find that the B&W films have a wide latitude and is a good film to start with. personally I would start with 100 asa B&W film, say Kentmere 100 or similar or perhaps, one of my favourites Ilford FP4 which is an125ASA film. Good shooting, if you want any more info let me know, Regards David

I just bought a black Konica C35... I haven't tried a new batter to see if the meter works yet but the rangefinder seems to be off... You mentioned that you'd fix yours.. Anyway to show how to calibrate them?
@thereluctantphotographer3 жыл бұрын
I haven't found any info on how to adjust it yet but I'll upload a video as soon as I find a way of fixing it. With mine the vertical rangefinder is off.

10:01 If you clean this part of the camera, it will close way better. Use a cotton swap with some 70% alcohol (ketonatus).

I just bought one at a yardsale and i'm kind of a newbie to these sort of cameras so I have no idea what kind of film is compatible with it and stuff like that... any idea or suggestions on where I could purchase film for it? (P.S I live in sweden if that helps)
@thereluctantphotographer2 жыл бұрын
You've made a great purchase. You need 35mm film which is widely available. you can choose from a wide range of colour and black and white film. When I started I used Black and White film and developed it myself, however you can get your film developed and printed at a film lab ( there are plenty in Sweden from a quick search) you could also buy film from them. I suggest buying a film such as Ilford fp4 or cheaper to start with Kentmere or Fomapan. Here is a link. www.teamframkallning.se If you have any questions please let me know

how do you focus pictures???
@thereluctantphotographer2 жыл бұрын
When you look through the viewfinder there is a yellowish patch in the centre of the frame. In this patch you can see a double image, turning the focusing ring moves the two images closer together or further apart. Once you have aligned the two images you have the image in focus and can take your picture.

True. I do have a Cosina 35 in black and one in silver, it's about the same thing. Awesome insert camera, I sold the Olympus Trip 35

Some people don't like the fact they are fully automatic, but some time it's good to use a camera and just think about the composition. Never had an olympus trip I'll have to try one someday.

Hi, the camera does not have a built in flash it does, however, have a hotshoe which your flash can be attached, alternatively you can use the flash sync port on the side of the camera. David
