Auto trac is perfect for cars and emergency use, but heavier vehicles like trucks and SUVs, I suggest the konig from personal experience. Whatever chains you go with ALWAYS remember to rinse them with hot water after use because road salt will destroy them if left uncleaned.

I use autotrac and it's so easy to use. I used it couple of times to cross the highest motor able road in the world....so far it's good and reliable. But here in India we have to pay a premium because of the custom and other charges.

You installed that Auto-track with a twist in the chain at the top. It would break pretty quick that way, especially on bare road spots. Thanks for the review. I got the cheaper Auto-trak, since I probably will never have to use it. 50+ trips in "chain control" conditions, but never had to put them one with 4WD yet. You ARE required to carry chains, even with 4WD, so I'm finally getting a set in case I get questioned by the control authorities.

Most states require you to carry chains or have "Traction Tires" installed (the ones with the 3 peak Snowflake Mountain emblem) or Studded, Sipped, Non-Studded Winter tires with the same eblem. Doesn't matter if you have 4WD or not... 4WD doesnt mean anything on ice and snow without the correct set of tires and an intelligent driver behind the wheel.

@@silverstacker177 CA Sierra requires chains to be carried, even if you have true winter tires and 4WD. Very rare to actually have a CalTrans requirement to put on chains in addition to 4WD with snow tires -- if it is that bad, they almost always just close the road. You might need them sometimes to get out to the main road.

For anyone considering the peerless just know the chain model they recommended for my tire size was completely wrong. It was way too small. Figured I must be doing something wrong so watched a ton of videos and followed every instruction to a T. I tried to speak with peerless support but none of my emails or calls were ever responded to.

Great video, this will serve the purpose. I wanted to get the Konig brand for our Tesla but they’re sold out. So peerless will have to do on a last minute trip to Reno.

How did the peerless chains work for your tesla? Been looking at them for some time.

I’m trying to find a proper chain to fit 275/55r20 tires. I prefer the Konica, but can’t tell if they make one.

Check Konig’s website, they have a fitment guide

You want to think TWICE about the KONIG XG PRO. For the price you pay for the KONIG XG PRO, the CHAINS BREAK for the first time use, especially when you need them the most. The CHAINS BREAK on the KONIG XG PRO. If you don't believe me, look and listen to the people on AMAZON who bought them.

I just got back from Yosemite national park, having driven about an hour and a half on these snow chains because the entire park was snowed under, these chains performed beautifully, you should be aware that most people don’t take the time to write a review about their snow chains when things go well.. for me it was very important to get auto tensioning snow chains and I think konig definitely has the best ones

I also have a video on my channel showing these chains in action, taken from a couple years ago coincidently at Yosemite

Is only one per set?
@RainnelDSouza Жыл бұрын
yes one pair per set, so it goes on the wheels that are "driven" so if you have a front wheel drive then you put these on the front wheel. If you have AWD or 4WD ideally you need 2 sets of these chains for all 4 tires but you can get by with one set.
