Sounds to me like the dude is super paranoid. He seems like the kinda guy that would walk into the room, see people talking and laughing and would instantly think they are talking about him. He comes off like he thinks everyone is out to get him to the point where he makes it it a reality by being so unpleasant he forces people away. That is probably something he should get help for. I don't even dislike him, I do hope he can get help and that all the burned bridges can be rebuilt.
