Jeff Hardy really never learned how to wrestle safe, he would have these crazy matches but the guy was beating himself up badly every single time.
@liamstewart447211 сағат бұрын
The sweet irony about Jeff Hardy is the thing that made him so popular was also the same thing holding him back. He did some of the coolest, craziest bumps ever and people went wild for them but they were hurting himself so much that he needed to pile up on the booze and "medics" to help him get through it.

Jeff Hardy had it all but he threw it away. He wouldn't change his style.

I’m sure someone already mentioned it in the comments, but in 2008 more people searched on Google for Jeff Hardy than Obama… And Obama won the presidency that year. I went to shows around those years and it was unbelievable. And Konnan is right, women love Jeff. He will always be a huge what if.

Hardy is just like Bryan Danielson: great wrestler but not ready to be the leader.

Jeff Hardy is a bigger deal in TNA than he was in AEW. Let that sink in.

Jeff could have also been physically bigger too. Well, according to Jeff Hardy anyways. Ha.

Jeff is good but his stick work might be disliked by other fans

I think even John Cena would agree that there was a 3-5 year period where Jeff Hardy was on his level maybe even more over depending on which demographics of the fans you asked. Personally, I think his gimmick would have still peaked even if he stayed clean, but it creates a lot of fun hypotheticals.
@BeHumbleW0257 сағат бұрын
No. Jeff Hardy never evolved beyond backyard wrestling. Always chasing the high spots that are good on a highlight reel but forgettable as time passes. His TNA run as ‘The antichrist of pro wrestling’ was suppose to be the phase where his charm and charisma do the heavy lifting and take a lighter but effective style in the ring. But his promos were trash. So he relied heavily on his high spots that were taxing on his body and subsequently his drug habits persisted.

There’s a lot of new fans that don’t understand the 2005-2010 era where Cena and Hardy intersected. Cena was heavily booed for most of that time. Sure the reactions were mixed in some places, but the overall sentiment around Cena was he was boring, pushed on fans too hard and his character was stale. Hardy’s popularity kept building every year since his 1st return and in 08-09 he was WWE’s top star in terms of merchandise and fan reactions. Had he stayed clean and started relying on less high spots (he wasn’t a bad wrestler) he would have been at worst, on Cena’s level if not higher.

I agree with Joe, Jeff was organically over unlike corporate Cena

No way cena was a mainstream star and the reason people went sour on him because Vince kept him on top because nobody else could take his spot

Jeff Hardy was never top guy material. He was a top guy but never THE top guy.

I'm saying as a massive Jeff Hardy fan: you guys are crazy. John Cena is like the textbook example of what a WWE top guy should be. Hardy, while a legend, was never that guy.

Neither drew any money. No one has watched pro rasslin since 2003. It peaked during the golden age (1948-61), and then had a resurgence as a syndicated children’s television series based out of Manhattan (1986-89). Had a brief pop in relevance once more (1997-99), and then went right back into the hole of irrelevance.
