Tony Khan being recognized as a "Booker of the Year" was the worst thing for AEW and the exact validation Tony wanted. Now he truly believes in his soul that most (if not, all) future criticism is invalid. He's the "best" booker, afterall, and who knows more about booking wrestling than the Booker of the Year? Maybe the guy that created and largely determines the "Booker of the Year" award might be the only person to know more about it. Thats the reality of where AEW is right now. Two primary people that are the least qualified, validating each other and a fanbase creating the echo chamber. All this despite just about every tangible and intangible measurement of success and growth revealing a different reality 🤷 Its truly wild. I hope AEW figures it out, but I wouldn't bet on it considering the players involved and the fanbase not being near as demanding of improvement as they were (and are) about anything with a WWE logo on it.
