Fun Fact: The craftsman Wiz wants to introduce Vanir to is Megumin's dad, Hyoizaburo, the very same craftsman who she buys all the defective magic items from. Also in the LN this is based on Wiz & Vanir aren't there.

Hyoizaburo has immense magical potential--even more than Crimson Demons already do, he could have gotten filthy rich because his magic items, in concept, are super useful in their world. But like his daughter and neighbors, he's obssessed with making his shit "interesting" so he keeps adding little quirks/drawbacks/defects in them that makes people hesitant to use them. No one buys his items. Except Wiz. Because she's a hopeless ninny when it comes to running the shop.

BenFranklin89 leading up to the movie I was really confused as to how they were gonna tackle this arc because a lot of it relies on you having read the prequel novel/manga to really understand the characters, but instead they just kinda brushed aside everyone. I was especially disappointed with how the classmates turned out. I do think they are actually some pretty fun characters, but they feel way more lifeless. Especially the redesigns. Don’t get me wrong I do love this movie, definitely one of the funniest experiences I’ve had in a theater, I’m probably just salty we didn’t get a season 3 announcement at the end because this one and the next Vol 6 are probably my two favorite arcs in the series.

Include the scene where Kazuma & Arue talk in the bar about YunYun & Megumin as a possible yuri couple, him finding out Arue is the reason for the whole "have my baby" fiasco. They could also have done a few flashback scenes to Megumin & YunYun's time in the village. Like you said I like the movie but there are things that I wished had been done better.

DeltaDrifter2201 DeltaDrifter2201 ok HUGE SPOILERS below So In volume 9 officially Megumin and Kazuma confess and she refers to him as her boyfriend in her inner monologue but it’s not like official, running joke. she would sneak into his room at night and they always get interpreted by plot So vol10/12 is when Darkness realizes she’s in love with Kazuma, and Megumin encourages her, she doesn’t want her friends to live with regrets, also she’s confident she’d win. There is a really Heart wrenching scene where darkness Confesses but is turned down. He’s honest, he’s a coward, he would love to be the type of guy to date multiple women and be a baller but he can’t. He has a really good thing going with Megumin and doesn’t want to mess that up. Harem ending destroyed. So the rest of the novel really is confidence building for darkness. By the end she refuses to give up and even steals his first kiss. Going forward Megumin does develop to be more like Kazuma, definitely more of A perv. As for the other girls Aqua- no romantic interest on either side Yunyun- implied to be in love with Megumin, if she ends up with anyone probably be Dust Iris- is in love with Kazuma but he views her only as a little sister, technically he by tradition is due to marry her but he doesn’t know that Chris- Kazuma has romantic feelings but she didn’t reciprocate, really cool bromance type deal based on Metal gear Wiz-nah she cute and a mentor but that’s really it

This movie was great but they changed a lot of stuff, as you've read, Sylvia's 2nd phase actually didn't happen in the Novels, there she actually dies after getting hit by the railgun so Komekko does actually steal the kill lol. After killing Sylvia there was supposed to be a third night where Kazuma and Megumin sleep together where Megumin actually confesses to Kazuma. Also since Sylvia's 2nd phase doens't happen here, by this point Kazuma had only died twice in the novel, decapitated by the wintet shogun and when he broke his neck. He died 5 times in the anime, here, vs Hans (he doesn't sacrifice there either) and in the OVA. I love this movie but it's kinda weird as an adaptation, everything else is the same as the LN excpet for some parts they skipped and this volume was a lot more Kazumin.

Lysout Righter I disagree greatly since the stuff that happens in vol 5(what movie is based off of) sets up things for future volumes or in this case anime seasons. Kazuma and Megumin’s relationship as well as their character development are not as fleshed out like in the LN. They even cut out the part where Megumin is supposed treated as a joke by the crimson demons for using explosion magic which is supposed to play a role for her character in later volumes especially towards the final arc. Also we missed out on Kazuma’s backstory. The movie was good but 100% the worst adaptation of a volume that they’ve done pls pls don’t skip out on vol 5 you’ll miss out on so much!!

Something I think should still be in the movie was that the crimson demons, instead of fighting Sylvia theu star basically to attack and then teleport, attack teleport and so on and on. Even when YunYun "fights" Sylvia she said she was going to use the most powerful techique of the Crimson Demons... and proceeds to teleport
