I love this so much. Especially listening to this after listening to the one with Sanguinius. It really shows the ideals that the two primarchs had and how such opposites they were. This song really shows that opposites battle and the difference in ideals.

Ah Konrad, my favorite Primarch. The saddest part about his arc that a lot of people seem to miss is Konrad was not made to be this...creature, by the emperor. He was created to be a paragon of justice by the emperor, designed from the start to view all things through the lens of justice and handle cases as the perfect judge who would pass down the absolute best possible ruling in any case. Weird train of thought, but just imagine picking a favorite snack and wondering which one is the most "just." Anyway, it was Chaos taking him and throwing the poor lad into the lawless streets of Nostramo where he had to build an idea of justice from the ground up while dealing with the depravity of a lawless and corrupt *planet* that helped shape him into the Night Haunter. I know dealing with characters like this is a prime topic for those who want to give the "it was ultimately your choice" bit, but honestly...the primarchs are pre-programmed almost like supercomputers to fulfill aspects of the Emperor's character. Konrad was programmed to be an agent of justice without anyone to train him in the finer points of extenuating circumstances, grace, or mercy, and he was dealing with a world that fundamentally repudiated such notions from the start. Imagine an ai chatbot with a limited set of pre-programmed responses to whatever someone said, and then that person just started babbling nonsense or otherwise say stuff outside of what it's programmed to respond to. It's either not going to be able to respond, or it will try to force the scenario to a particular conclusion whether its a logical response or not. In the case of Konrad, he tried forcing justice on a lawless planet without the means to understand its people or any factors that would reign in his excesses of punishment. As a result, he had a planet that was too scared to commit crime and interpreted that as fulfilling his function, yet he didn't know how to instill morality and civility within the minds of the populace (something his brothers and the Emperor would have helped him with and trained him in had they not been scattered) and when they turned against him and his brothers turned on him for his methods...well he didn't know how to respond except by going insane, or to keep the supercomputer/ai analogy, haywire.

Thank you! I really appreciate your comment, as this one was a challenge to figure out. He’s a complex character, and capturing that in a 4-minute song wasn’t easy. I chose a grounded approach (unlike the orchestral style for Sanguinius, as I see them as opposites) and aimed to show his decline through the song and art.
