Take it from an African American who can make a reasonably good plate of ackee, salt fish and fried dumplings. Jamaicans will love and appreciate your respect and love for their culture! Caribbean culture, on the whole, is wonderful! I speak 3 other languages besides English -- French, Spanish Creole and I can cook and dance well enough to comfortably pass as someone born in the United States with foreign parents. I am an old woman now, but trust me . . . Caribbean culture is wonderful. I love African American culture, but Afro-Caribbean culture will forever be my preference.
