Have you ever been at St. Stephan's Cathedral and lucky enough to listen to the organ?
@suekim86734 жыл бұрын
Thanks to DG, I could enjoy this beautiful sounds of organ music at home. In a relaxing mood, I could listen to it. Not Hustle and bustle visiting Church in Venice where was no room to sit down with too many crowds.

Ist es möglich die Orgel zu spielen?

Yes, quite a few times. The crypt is very spooky, you even come out in the Crucifix Chapel when Mozart had his funeral. Nice to see the organ being used.

I was here yesterday evening, and was lucky enough to listen to it live. Words are simply not enough to express my feelings. It was truly an out of this world experience, nothing like I’ve ever seen or heard before. You could feel it being streamed right from the heavens and straight into your heart - with nothing in between. This is an instrument that can bring you up there when it’s playing. I will never be able forget that moment...

I was in this cathedral just last week, July 2023, and heard the organ played 'Live'. Incredible sound and thanks for posting this great memory jogger.

We toured St. Stephens Cathedral last year during our wonderful visit to Vienna last year. Would love to return to hear the new organ in person. Until then, thank you for posting this video so we can have a sense of how great the organ sounds.

I can’t believe that I could’ve nearly missed this ginormous, beautiful instrument if I hadn’t looked up when I was right about the leave the cathedral 😂. It has such a gorgeous sound which I’m falling in love with, and I can’t wait to try it out for myself one day!

I know I have said several times here that Beethoven speaks to me greatly. But every time I hear this one piece played well on a pipe organ, then I realize how much Bach also speaks to me. Thank YOU!

I was there in March but unfortunately the organ was being restored. For shore that would be a great experience to listen a organ concert there. It would be awesome if I could play just a few minutes on this instrument but that's almost impossible

Beautiful!! Am I just seeing things or is there a gigantic pinkish T shirt hanging in front other east wall over the altar at 1:49 ??? Not likely that was part of the original design.
@erzherzogalbrecht85044 жыл бұрын

It was an exquisite performance. The pipe organ is stunning, and so is the cathedral. Thank you. This is not to be disrespectful, but it looks like there is a gigantic shirt hanging in the church at 1:48. Is representational of the tunic Jesus wore? It must be part of a worship service, and it looks like it is one continuous cloth - which would be amazing.
@seasick88282 жыл бұрын
It was indeed one continuous cloth. In the catholic church, as well as many other chtistian beliefs, it is custom to cover the main altar during lent, so during the 40 da,s before easter, to commemorate the 40 days that Jesus spent fasting in the desert. In St. Stephens Cathedral, the shroud is completely different every year, as it is a different artist every year. When this video was filmed, it was an art installation by the famous austrian artist Erwin Wurm, in case you want to look him up.

@@nadiadesimone8645 It has to be every organists dream to play such a marvelous instrument ;-) I have heard the organ several times now (during mass and at concerts of "our" (St. Stephen's) own organists, Nathan Laube and the exceptional Olivier Latry) and it's pure joy! I can only recommend every organ lover to come visit for a concert once safe travelling will be possible again.
