David, first I wanted to say thank you so much for this video. I'm new to sampling ant this really helped me learn to loop samples in Kontakt. After working with a set of similar overlapping samples (4 samples of me blowing through a cyclidrical tube, 1 sample each in a different kontakt group to help fatten the sound), I think the reason for up to 8 loop ranges in the wave-editor is that it allows us to set different loop points for each group of instruments. At first I was using the first loop point on each sample, but I realized every time I changed loop range 1, that it changed loop range 1 universally - not just for that specific sample. So instead I used loop range 1 for group 1, loop range 2 for group 2, etc. Up through loop range 4 for group 4. I suspect this is the intent of providing multiple loop ranges - instead of having multiple loop ranges within a single sample, I think it's probably more often used to provide independent loop ranges over multiple samples that are in different sample groups. Not sure on this, but that worked in my (clearly amateur) case. Again thanks so much for the video, and for everything you've done for sampling - including the awesome decent sampler. Once my skill level is up enough and I know what I'm doing I'm hoping to submit a Decent Sampler instrument to pianobook.

Because loop auditioneer is free software you could do what I did and download the source code and compile it for your operating system. Or if you think that's to difficult (it isn't) you could ask a friend or ask someone on a forum who uses the same OS as you to compile it. You could then share that version with your viewers. Before searching for loops you should have changed the search settings and you missed out the most important part of loopauditioneer, its auto batch looping tools which can save hours. Does wavelab have batch looping capabilities? I also wouldn't recommend using the crossfade tool in loop auditioneer for your final samples because it's destructive, I think it's better to use the crossfade function of your sampler.

Xtant Audio That’s cool! I didn’t know that compiling natively was possible. Are there XCode project files? Either way, not something that the average user is going to have the time/skills to do. It’s too bad that no Mac binary is provided out of the box. I actually originally had a whole section in the video about the auto loop settings window, but I cut it because nothing I did caused it to find a loop within my samples. I probably should have demo’ed that with a simple use case. Yeah, burning crossfading into samples is, of course, destructive. People should definitely make backups before going that route. My workflow was developed originally with SamplerBox in mind, and SamplerBox doesn’t offer cross-fading.

@@DavidHilowitzMusic I'm not sure what the compilation process is on Mac but it's just a C++ project with a couple of dependencies so shouldn't be to tricky to do.

Hi Dave. I have tried to use Loop Auditioneer on my PC lastely and make the loop with that. However this software crashed. I decided to search for other free software and I have found. It is called Endless VAW. In my opinion it works much better than loop auditioneer but this is my subjective opinion :) Thanks for the video ...Cheers :)

Hey David! Currently building my own string library, which was recorded with 3 different mic positions. Is it possible to batch edit loop points across the 3 microphones so that they all loop the same? Thanks for the videos as always!
