I did an excel spreadsheet to compare overall cost after 5 yrs. You don’t actually save much by buying used. New car = Depreciation only. Used car = Depreciation + Repairs + Higher loan interest (albeit absolute amount may be lower). And depending on the car, there’s often still a lot of room for used car to further depreciate in value. Nevertheless, I ended up with used car, twice. Cuz firstly it gives me access to more different cars, 2ndly the car price is lower hence psychologically doesnt feel so painful. 3rdly, there’s a chance for repair costs to be lower than forecasted (my forecast quite conservative).
@chanclass57203 ай бұрын
Repair cost can be vary, example used F30 below RM100k, water leaking issue either reservoir or unknown hose issue. You will get knock by mechanic for RM1k per job until the job done maybe you got wrack until 4th job until get it done or you get part online and get someone you really close to and repair it and get below RM1k but conti car mechanic.....you very hard to get a very nice person. Engine oil leak, pulley loose, lose power, after you buy the 2nd conti car and so many issue, you will rather buy the new car with 5 years free service or extended warranty package.
@PrimeV882 ай бұрын
I guess it depends on the type of used car one gets. Conti cars are not expensive to buy but they’re more expensive to maintain compared to a Japanese or even a newer Korean car. If you get a good used car that gives you trouble free motoring for several years then that’s a bargain.

Common guys. Today’s world business trend, every CEO is answerable to shareholders on profitability. How to boost sales ? By having product intentionally designed with short life span to boost re purchase, renewal or repair. Typically conti car parts are designed to last the first 5 years only. But due to different usage and climate and other factors. Some parts deteriorate faster than expected ( less than 5 years ). But manufacturer are “happy” to replace it for free during this warranty period, knowing they will make more money later on, regardless who own this car subsequently. They will squeeze the juice out of you anyway as long as someone is holding on to this car. So, do not become the SOHAI ! On another note, there is nothing to brag anyway.
